Couldnt bring myself to watch it when it was released. Bored shitless so I've finally watched it in full.

What a cock Charlie Methven is. The way he spoke to the Irish lady member of staff was disgusting. No surprise she left her job.
She is at the foundation now not far away really.

More likely got sick of trying to polish a turd.

In that marketing meeting he had, I'd have gattling gunned P45's at the lot of them.

He was only here a few months before 'spending more time with his family'. He comes into a club that's on its knees, had consecutive relegations and finds out that staff are disillusioned and not doing their jobs as well as they could (nee shit sherlock) He then shouts a bit, plays to the crowd, realises he's making fuck all difference and buggers off. Some people are so easily taken in by posh people who speak well.

She was shit at her job.

Was she?

You're basing that judgment of her performance at work on the basis of a few seconds where the only thing that Methven was interested in was getting the opportunity to go on the pitch and get a round of applause for announcing the size of the crowd?

What I saw was someone trying to change things, trying in inject some life into staff. The attitude of some on STID stank to high heaven. That Irish lass, all she needed to do was to give him the crowd number for the highly publicised 'coming home for Christmas' record-breaking game, she replied with 'You might it, you might not' - that's the apathy and culture which has got the club to where it is.

I am yes, you're right. If I needed a figure for an important announcement at work and some acted the way she did, I'd speak more harshly than Methven did.

OK we will assume that the 3 edited minutes of the Irish lass was exactly what she was like. Surely you would expect anyone in his position to try and change the culture but not fuck off after a few months. You dont change that sort of apathy and culture overnight. Methven running away meant everything you saw was an act. He fooled you.

I think he got sick to be fair. He hasn't fooled me at all, he tried and then gave up.

And you are right, you don't change that culture overnight, but you do need to change it and you don't do that by accepting it.

I'd agree changing the culture in the long run but the horrible tory twat was enforcing change on a staff team that hadn't had guidance for years and expected it then and there.

How long do they need to start and perform? They're employed to do a job and seemingly struggled to do it.

The scene where Donald pointed out something wrong with the Stadium and it never got fixed. Was that acceptable?

My nephew worked for SAFC between 2012-2016 and used to tell me the place was crawling with Mags. They actually outnumbered Sunderland fans. Not that it should matter which team you support but for a lot of people on minimum wage or just above, giving your all to a football club you don't like may not come naturally.

Not sure in this day and age you would be able to favour one person over another for job based on their football aligence.

As a good employer which I'd hope SAFC given their importance in the community, I don't feel employing mags is something we can critise them for.

If people were taken a job there and not given their all then that's up to the people in management roles at the club to deal with.

she wasn't employed to count the gate, she was merely the messenger, he just wanted a wank in front of the crowd. Him and his mate only needed to get one part of the job correct and the stadium would have been full, they failed. You cannot market football fans into a stadium, merely try and get them to spend more while there. If it was just down to marketing someone like Aldershot could be playing in front of 50k every week

You don't' think marketing can influence a gate?? Whilst Aldershot couldn't get 50k, it could make the difference to 10-20% on the gate.

She was employed in marketing and the big marketing plan for that week involved announcing the crowd - she was like 'Meh' at getting the info.

In theory the club should hire fans, we already have a connection to the club that a simple employee cannot replicate. Obviously not in every role, but in as many as possible.
