Or maybe they agreed a price in principal that was contingent on promotion, and this loan is effectively a retainer.

Still seems odd though because someone else could come and buy Madrox outright and pay off the remaining balance on the loan in doing so.
Only with the prior agreement of FPP.

FFS.

Why does anyone still think anyone is going to buy a football club in the middle of a Global Pandemic?

NUFC is not getting sold. They will pull out as this thing drags on. The Germans will stop their football again as soon as they Covid 19 cases.

SAFC will be lucky to come out of this shit storm in one piece.

A lot of Clubs are going bust. The lower league clubs struggle to turn any kind of profit, lucky to break even. The main income is from gate receipts and they are not coming back until sometime next year at the earliest.

There's talk of bailouts, unless that comes from the EPL, it isn't going to happen. The economy is fucked and the money is going to be needed for a lot more important things than some tinpot football clubs that get a few thousand through the door on a Saturday.
We know all of that.
The govt have been working with the football authorities to get the game ready for restart since day one. It’s a morale, national pride, entertainment thing. Always has been. IIRC Football was played the day before war was declared on Germany. Then the league was adandoned the next day. A regionalised war league started up about a month later. Normal service has to be seen to be resuming as much as possible as soon as possible. It reflects badly on a govt when it doesn’t. Do you think the Ministery Of Sport, Leisure and Culture has been doing Nowt but diy and gardening these last few months?

Govt won’t want businesses or huge %s of business sectors going under and football is one. It may well look very different with more regionalisation, fan ownership, official feeder clubs or B/U23 teams in the pyramid. The latter two may be the price paid for a PL “bail out”. Remember the PL clubs are taking a hit here anarl.

What and you think FPP wanted to buy us out. ???
I thought you were more savvy than that.
FPP have NEVER wanted to buy us out, they just wanted an investment in a UK football team/club who had massive potential . that's why Michael never got on board.
He thought it was a massive risk to buy a club.
You’ve just contradicted yourself. Dell never got on board because he thought it was a massive risk to buy a club, ergo FPP were buying a club

Bob man they did, SD even said he didn’t know if the new owners wanted him. Stop peddling this shit on behalf of Donald, he’s a lying f***ing toad and a hopeless owner of football clubs.
sorry on this point we disagree, SD is not a liar at all he made a few mistakes but over estimated what he could change, and made statements to that fact.
A bit like Short promised the world the gave us Byrne and Bain.
Them 3 started the rot, these 2/3 have just not been able to stop it.
Honestly FPP never wanted a full buyout ,they wanted the 3 amigos to move it forward, but shit happens and things do not go to plan.
I am not sticking up for SD or CM but this was/is a bigger job than they thought, thats my take on it.

You said Bain was a fantastic appointment at the time.

Just like you are saying Rodwell is in fact.

It's probably going to look VERY different.

Clubs are going under. They are a flawed business model, even when things are normal. The % of turnover they spend on wages is crazy and the players are facing some very significant cuts.

Do you think that these players and clubs should be bank rolled by the normal taxpayer? Or should the money be used to stimulate more useful things?

The UK has far too many full time professional clubs, no other country has as many. A lot are going bust in the next few months. There will be a deal with the league, regarding point deductions etc but when they start up again they will be completely different. I can see a lot of L1 & L2, going semi pro. The model is unsupportable.
