Unlike many of the mags on here, you always come across as a reasonable and sensible poster. For that reason I hope that when this is all over, you’re found to be correct in your views and your good name remains intact.

I don't see why being right or wrong about the take over would effect his good name like.
The lad is only passing on what someone has told him.

Cheers. like I’ve always said, it was just a bit of info I received. Potentially a lot may have changed since then. Mostly it’s just my opinion that it won’t go through.

would I be correct in the assumption that you are saying premier league commercial sponsors generate so much revenue for the premier league that their individual concerns over a future Saudi incident might negatively effect their brand in a way that would result in them terminating their investment into the premier league.

i.e 6 months time 5 journalists are murdered in the KSA and Barclays decide to cancel the sponsorship of league for fear of damage to their brand.

Touché! You are so blinkered that you need to come on an opposing teams board to try and convince yourself you are right.

You clearly stated that the takeover would make the EPL brand more attractive and I beg to differ. I have already conceded that watching a Newcastle side full of expensive signings is more attractive than watching, say Norwich, to the average armchair viewer and some, previously mundane, fixtures will become more attractive.

But what you don't grasp is that their is clearly a potential reputational risk to the league. Come on? It's plain as day. Right at the outset I said I have no issues with Saudi - I have plenty of associates there and have worked with Saudi's for many years but surely not even you are so blinkered to believe all is fine in the KSA? Black Swans, tail risk, call it what you want but the potential upside of a few more attractive games is dwarfed by the downside risk.

If it goes through I guarantee an agenda item at the next Board Meeting is the Saudi takeover and the potential impairment of a brand. All these companies have a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders and need to look at this potential risk. This has nothing to do with a dislike for Newcastle simply how finance operates.

Barclays is an interesting reference as they already have mirky dealings with Saudi and Qatar - if I recall Barclays paid a member of the Saudi Royal Family to gain a banking license there!
