A great deal of the Reid success has been attributed to this. I dont know how feasible it is now but SD has said he doesnt believe in it.
If a player wants 40k per week (random figure)
Pay them 10k base, 10k appearance, 5k draw or 20k win, 2k per assist, 2k per goal

A common theme on this thread and the board is for some posters to argue that we shouldnt really believe anything negative written about the club because of the source of the story.

It's the Daily Fail, sky, that shit rag the sun, Keith.Downie is a mag and Nixon nars fuck all are some of the regular comments.

I do sometimes think our backs against the wall, seige mentality has it's place but with the current owners we've had a history of what turned out to be accurate reports rubbished by the club at the time and this position is often taken by some posters on here.

Keith Downie breaks the news Maja is not going to sign a contract- Donald took to twitter to attack this story but we all know what happened next and plus other reports and Stid 2 actually suggested he was never going to sign and we knew this and wanted to sell his to Boredeaux for financial reasons.

"Takeover" story breaks leading up to the Play Off Semi- Rubbish again says Donald,he's not trying to sell safc. I actually heard someone say it was "sky making up shit to cause unrest at the club".

Chris Weatherspoon articles on our finances- Donald took to twitter again to rubbish them.

The latest Mail/Times articles-Same again.

There are more examples and of course you could adopt the view all of the above are just lies or part of a conspiracy to run us down.

Or perhaps a number of ex-players and interested parties in buying the club are so pissed off at missing out they have began a intricate attack plan using the press and social media to turn us against the club?

Of course it's worth remembering when the local press and fanzines were briefed about the Dell takeover by the club and it was very positive this news was welcomed by our support.

Difficult thought isn't it, there are two side as well. I'm even beginning to think their are plants on here to make bad news go away.

Bad news story, and apparently a massive takeover is happening.

Well yea but that's a bit simplistic isn't it, they could say no or x club is offering 30k base with add ons?

I think that the whole structure of player payments should be re done to reflect performance based pay.

Base wage
Appearance Fee
Win Bonus
etc.

Make the players want to win
Wasn't this the type of contract the Lyle Taylor wanted? I think most clubs do that. But Donald doesn't want to do that.

As i said, it's a figure pulled from the air.

Too many players suck the cash out of the club without performing. They know that regardless they'll get payed.
And they say sod off.
Or they try harder

thanks, I understand it now and failing to see what they’ve done wrong.. the parachute money went on paying a debt owed by the club. Donald and Methven didn’t owe SBC £25,000,000.
No they didn't, but what people have a real problem with is that regardless of this 25 million SD has paid "from his own money" somewhere in the region of 20 million but wants to sell the club for around 35 million.
I know there are probably loads of people out there that understand the finances a lot more than me but if he has spent 20 million and not improved the club then thats all he gets back

I agree with the idea. I just dont know for sure how prevalent they're as opposed to in reids years.

I know I'd trust a team at this level a lot more if their earnings depended on performance.

we now have a bang average third tier squad with an uninspiring coach and an owner, who in his short tenure, has tried to sell the club twice.

I think this is probably the most even handed, unarguable post on this whole thread, whichever side of the debate you fall on the 25m parachute payments discussion.

Whether they are 'good guys who have tried and failed' or 'bad guys who didn't care about succeeding', we're in a bit of a shit situation however you paint it.

Sure it was Alex Rae who said Quinny negotiated an add on for everyone's contract and they were at one point being paid more for winning than their base salary. How it should be but the reality is it will never be like that again.

I think 99% of what is posted on here are just opinions really, other than the wums and bullshiters making stuff up the rest is just noise.

But does easing his wage but not total debt equate to value that his and oviedo performance provided?

There is no doubt they both should leave as they were unsustainable but it doesnt make sense to me to pay them off in full.

One thing it did for us would have been to help with the league 1 wage cap rules, SCMP. Players that are out on loan don't count towards the wage bill for that.

And they say sod off.
You could speak to the player and ask how confident they are of performing well, then when they say how good they're going to be offer them a bonus that states of their KPIs hit target they can have a big bonus but it will cost them a small amount off their basic wage.

Fair point but I dont see that we have increased it in anyway that it the cap would come into play?
