New CEO appointed..

To be fair, we don't know who applied for the job. I think at this point, we don't really know anything. Appreciate that his CV isn't great, but if Donald is staying for the foreseeable, bringing in someone with a bit more experience is preferable to the set-up we have now. It's right to be cautious, but I don't agree with writing a bloke off before we know the first thing about him.
But we do know the first thing about him, we know his record is shit and when employing someone that is pretty critical. How long have we gone without a CEO? Are we that desperate for one that we employ a failure at his 3 previous clubs. No one is expecting a top notch CEO to suddenly fall through the doors, but I certainly wouldn't expect a CEO who has seen his club go backwards under his tenure and leaves them a few places above being non league. Even by the target Scunthorpe set him, he has gone completely in the other direction

We have appointed someone with experience of the level we are at. We have vastly overspent for many years. If we don’t cut our cloth accordingly we will be bust before much longer.
We are not your run of the mill league one club so experience at this level is NOT what we need. League one clubs dont have our overheads nor our infrastructure. We are a premier league club in all but name with the associated complexities of being that. We would be better off with someone who has shown SUCCESS rather than experience. Preferably in a bigger pond than the one we currently reside.

Its a piss poor appointment among a multitude of piss poor appointments since Donald came in. Poundland mentality continues.

So it would seem.

Always told as a young entrepreneur that the key to a being a strong business owner is to surround yourself with successful people and know more than you.

Alternatively er, don’t.
Recruiting well is the key but also letting him get on with the job. Remains to be seen whether either of these things have/will happen. Wish him the best of luck

Agreed. Big job putting an appropriate structure across all departments that works. Especially in the current situation.

This on the whole looks like a dreadful appointment, we’ve managed to take someone on who has failed at all his previous clubs , how can that inspire confidence within our fan base.
As another poster said “we may have not bottomed out yet” , that in itself is extremely worrying. Donald is being shown up to be utterly clueless in every aspect of running SAFC and shows no signs of wanting to leave or sell the club , despite paying very little for the club he seems to think he deserves a massive profit for taking the club to its lowest ebb .
If he and his two mates had actually achieved something ie promotion no one would have an issue with their selling price , however nobody can deny we aren’t going backwards and look to be rooted in the third division for the foreseeable future .

So Roker report have spoken to Charlie Wilson from the Scunthorpe Telegraph. Not a great choice as Charlie just writes what the London Supporters group tell him, which is get the owner/chairman out at all costs, and a bit of dribble about American sports.

(Better to speak to 2 freelance lads like Max Bell or Ross Gibson)

As for Jim, the highlight of his Playing career was at Rushden and Diamonds. He then went on to have boardroom roles at Boston, Notts County and us. Notice a pattern here?

Scunny have gone backwards in the last couple of years, our four best players were sold for £2m and not replaced. We’ve gone through four managers in that period and are now a few million in Debt. Plan for a new ground over the road(selling the current site for development) has been revised to putting flats round the existing ground.

Sorry you’ve been lumbered with this one.
