If it falls through and they decided to buy Sunderland I reckon a lot of people would be delighted despite what they're saying at the minute.
Supporting the club doesn't mean you support their actions away from football.
If they do well for the club people won't have a problem with what else they do because it's easy to separate one from the other.
Why do we need a Saudi billionaire when we can get a CEO from Scunthorpe?!

Plus Donald is a nice man and he cares. Aww.

I was watching that Man United 1989 "Inside story" thing on youtube, because Quickly Kevin podcast did a watch along, and one of the first scenes is Steve Bruce's bare arse on screen. I flagged the video immediately. You dont want that. Especially in lockdown.

If you want to think of it like then you can. The Sheffield United one is responsible for Youth Welfare in the Saudi Government - a pretty low key role. The potential mag one is the son of the King and is enforcing legislation. The Sheffield United one to my knowledge has had no alleged criminal activity levelled against him. The Mag one has allegedly.....

The main driver of the war in Yemen which has amongst other things lead to the starvation of 50000 Yemeni children.
The assassination of Khashoggi.
This year praised the 'reducation' of Chinese muslims in prisoner camps.
Interfered in Trump's presidential campaign
Arrested women's rights activists
Sanctioned arms sales to Syria
Executed Shia human rights activists
Sanctioned the torturing of those who oppose his regime
Blockaded Qatar
Forced the resignation of the Lebanese PM

So yeah, there's a bit of a difference between the two.

Saying that, maybe not quite enough to discredit him from the PL's rigourous 'fit and proper' check.

Exactly - the main players in the House of Saud get to be cool things like Governor of Riyadh, plum ambassadorships, head of the National Guard etc. The Sheff U lad, (I wouldn't mind being a quid behind him tbf), lets face it his gig I would doubt is in the top 1000 roles that the Saudi state would bestow on one of its Princes.

Is it ok to work for a company who do business with Saudi Arabia?
So far businesses they hold less than 80% in are fine.
Apparently a lot of the Saudi ministers are actualy fine too, some people on here know exactly what their involvement in the atrocities are...you'll have to ask them for a list.
So I assume most work is fine, Uber drivers must be okay for example!

So you'd have a north korean as long as he was just family & not the top fella?

I suspect this will go through regardless. Personally, I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be being part of a regime like that, but that's entirely unimportant.

I'm against it btw I just don't think this is any worse than dodgy russians, "other Saudi princes" etc.
Don't complicate things. The rules on the Saudis haven't been solidified yet.

I was trying to uncomplicate things. It wasn't me teasing apart the family into bad rulers & innocent nobody princes. If saudi is bad then it's bad.

That was kinda my point...

It clearly is a lot worse man. This is a takeover that has provoked concern from amnesty international, not a few Sunderland fans worried about their rivals winning stuff on a message board. It’s not about football to them

Surely the big guy would just now bung a nobody prince half a billion of the fund & say he's running it 😄
Therefore making it no worse than sheff utd. No amnesty outrage there.

Amnesty International have concerns over lots of things, they are probably more concerned about the 5 billion pounds worth of weapons we have sold the Saudi's since the Yemen conflict began.
I wonder why it this particular concern of Amnesty that you have chosen to nail your flag to the mast for.
