and it wast didgy..ie not agaits it in the rules...in fact it had to happen the way it did because of the rules...

also the rules around the para money are not set by the football league..but by the premier league..of which this guy is not a director..

but apart from that..everything you have said is accurate..

any evidence he is?
Can you show your working please?

Can you show your working please?
the rule is that para money can only be paid into a clubs bank account..
so ot couldnt go straight to sbc corporation..who were owed the money..
so ellis paid sbc..then was repaid after the para money hit the safc account..

that has created huge confusion here...

the £10m of para, which is the bit fans should e really outraged about, wentto clubs account, and was then transfered to ellis to buy the club.

I see he was at Boston, they dropped out the football league and Notts County, they dropped out the football league, Scunthorpe relegated last season...not really inspiring stuff.

Scunthorpe would be in a relegation battle this season in league 2 as well if there was the usual 2 going down. Safe by a technicality

Aey
He can bring his wealth of knowledge from that footballing giant Scunthorpe to Sunderland AFC
Mouthwatering
he can bring his kowledge of running the whole of the football league to it hopefully..he isnt supposed to have huge footbball knowledge..he is supposed to have knowledge of the business of football, which as a director he will.

i dont like this appointment much, as i thik the model of not havinga ceo is better, but doald doing eveything has been a shamles so this might be an improvement on that.

he isnt the guy responsible for the footall side at those clubs...thats literally not what a ceo does at any club on earth...

its only the fantasisis on here who think it is..

I know, but I'd argue that if everything is well run off the pitch it gives a better chance of success on it. But my comment was more in reply to madbob who suggested this bloke is suddenly going to get rid of piss takers and really turn us around. From what we've seen his previous clubs have been in major financial trouble (Boston and Notts County) or have been relegated to a lower league in his tenure (Notts County and Scunthorpe) so I fail to see what tangible benefits we can expect to see early on.

As an aside, what do you reckon his remit will be here then?

i hope its to run the business side..ie to replae what davison was doing..and not the football side..with a proper person appointed as director of football to run that side of it.//..

his cv is he has been ceo of two clubs..including in this league...of course it warrants it..
 here comes the clubs fluffer
Rodwell Joined Notts County in 2010. 2010 to 2011 they finished 19th in League one. When he left in March 2015 they were 21st
His first full season at Scunthorpe they finished 7th in League One, he leaves them 20th in League 2
No he f***ing doesn't you f***ing fake

Have you read what the chairman at Scunthorpe said about him? Everything reads like he was expected to be heavily involved in the football side, he explicitly praises his football knowledge and mentions the off pitch stuff as being what prevented him succeeding

“I employed Jim to take us to the Championship and get us ready for our journey into the new stadium, to build a backroom staff that could support this move and hopefully establish ourselves in the second tier.
“It was always going to be a challenge and although we didn’t quite make that transition due to circumstances beyond our control off the pitch, we certainly got very close to reaching that second tier of football on it and Jim was a very important part of that effort.
“His football knowledge is second to none and he can only add value to his new employers at Sunderland AFC"

If he's got football knowledge and is meant to be building a back room team capable of getting the club to establish itself in a higher league then its fair to say you can look at the league they ended up in when assessing his impact. That was his target, they went the other way and ended up relegated. The statement makes no mention of him only being responsible for the business side of things, if he was the whole getting to and establishing in the championship bit wouldn't have been mentioned as it would be irrelevant

Dont you dare use that f***ing, pathetic party line.

Give him a chance, it doesnt work like that man. You're meant to be an intelligent man but your love for Donald clouds your judgement. You wouldn't appoint a new accountant to your firm if the person has been part of 3 other firms who all failed each and every year. Financial issues, demotions etc.

Its not about giving someone a chance, its about looking at what they have done, can they do something differently here etc. This man clearly can not.

Sick of this bollocks me, clubs is going to the f***ing wall - But aye, give this failure a chance.

It’s incredible. It really is

maybe thats wy it didt happen..they got a ceo to do football stuff...that should nevrr be what happens...
could also be the chairman passing the buck to the deoarting employee.

Id like to have cofidence in this new guy..but sd's appointments to date have been poor, and this is a shift in strategy. the one positive is they arent trying to be too clever with this hire, alot of their faiulures have come from trying to be too clever, whne they have doe simple boring hires, their record has been a bit better.

CEO still contributes a lot to the overall success of a club though. Strong link between success off the pitch and on it.

His previous chairman certainly suggested he was expected to have an impact on the pitch. And I know people can do different roles etc but it would surprise me if someone who has had a career as a player would be in a role totally unrelated to the on pitch stuff (could be a Watmore type with a business background, but it certainly lends itself more towards the playing side of the business)

What qualifications does this fella actually have to be running a multi-million pound organisation?

we arent employing him as a manager..but as a business guy..
its more appriropriate to look at what their turnover was durig that time.
same as when safc had a ceo and a chairman..it was always a quote from the chairman about the new manager..not the ceo. #

he has frun two before..
and is on the baord of the footall league which is a vast one..

If he's been more on the footballing side at Scunthorpe then it would be strange suddenly appointing him to do the business side here wouldn't it?

Sounds like he was more on the business side at Notts County (well, sounds like he was something of a cost cutter) but given their financial problems that might not be the most ringing endorsement

Notts County said this when he left :

Notts Chairman Ray Trew said of Rodwell’s departure: “Notts County owe a debt of gratitude to Jim Rodwell for the work that he has done during his time at Meadow Lane.

“He’s been the one who has had to make, at times, unpopular decisions, to move the club towards a more stable financial position and to ensure that we not only maintain our place in League 1 but also plan for the future and a push for promotion out of the division.

Whatever his role is going to be it doesn't look like he has been very successful at previous clubs. I'd have much preferred appointing somebody who has had experience at a bigger club than the likes of Notts County.
