This whataboutery has to stop. It's here, it's in front of you, it's your club. You have to deal with it - it's happening to you, now. Nevermind what other people would or wouldn't do.

Pointing to other clubs and fans as a get out doesn't make it OK. Yes, you're right, other clubs and fans have a responsibility with this too. They've done it. But while they're clearly also wrong, you're not the keeper of them, because (rightly or wrongly) that's not your problem. I mean, it should be, it should be all our problems, but that's not how the world works, is it?

This is your club it's happening to. It IS your problem now. Don't just point over there. Look at your own house. You certainly did when Mike was at the helm. Zero contract hours? Outside his shops, plakards waving. How dare he!

If you're OK with that to get a new striker, then that's up to you. But don't point to City, or Sheff United to legitimise what's happening at Newcastle United. Because you're a Newcastle fan, they're the reason you're on this board, go to the games, whatever - so own what's happening to them as much you would if they sacked Rafa and hired Bruce.

I have posted on here multiple times that I am not happy with the Saudi's coming in.

Fat Mike is a twat but he is not in the same league as these fascists.

Although I'm sure PDC would find a lot to like in them, maybe he will be the replacement for Bruce?

I'm not sure if I will even be able to follow the results on the internet, certainly won't be putting any money into the Club in anyway, including Sky or BT.

I agree with most of that, apart from the bit about mega spending to cause a distraction, if anything it's highlighting the issues even more....

Most mags who started supporting during the Keegan era don’t realise how bad they were prior to his arrival. What made the Keegan era spectacular was that when he arrived, he save them from relegation to the 3rd Division and then proceeded to take them to within a whisker of being English champions.

As you say though, this was a different era. Newcastle were throwing money around and were the big spenders of the day. Man Utd were rebuilding, Arsenal and Liverpool were poor, Liverpool’s squad even had the likes of Phil Babb and McAteer. Chelsea had no Abramovich, Man City we’re struggling in the Championship, basically the time for ideal for a team to ‘do a Leicester’. Somehow they managed blow it big style, but many believe that the purple patch they had was their natural position, when in reality their average league position is around 13th, and that’s taking their good run into account.

If this takeover completes and if they throw hundreds of millions at the squad like Everton have done, then they’ll be competing with the likes of Everton and Wolves for a top 8 spot. The top 6 and FFP have virtually ensured the league is sewn up. Leicester is a bit of an anomaly, the Newcastle of today and they will soon fade and return to their normal place as Newcastle have.

The question is, is it worth selling your soul to the devil and being despised by the rest of the country for the sake of a couple of places in the league, because in reality, that’s all that will happen.

No it's not, he is right in what he has said.

A mega spending spree distracts away from morals to you as a fanbase. Aslong as it 'appears' that they are trying to improve the club by spending money, thats all you are arsed about.

FFP wont matter for the next 3 years so if they shot 200m a season at the squad nothing can stop them. Everton spent 600m and have moved from 10th to 9th so I expect Newcastle to do the same.

The deflection narrative by some of them has already started regarding that, Sheffield have been mentioned as an excuse for it to be acceptable as no one cared about them. It's only because it's Newcastle and it's only Sunderland supporters kicking up a fuss has been banded about.

Well, get ready for human rights protesters having a visable, high profile platform to target.

The poster I replied to made the point that NUFC fans were outraged about under age sexual activity and far right extremity. I pointed out that football fans are always looking for something to claim moral high ground over. Do you not agree with that ?

Not sure how it's going to work with FFP - City found plenty of ways around it - but if they pump in enough to make you successful, then it'll probably do both, I guess. But the main focus and will be on the glory, and the other stuff in the background. And they'll keep pumping more and more in till the other stuff gets smaller and smaller. But, really, it won't be - it'll still be there, still happening.

Newcastle are the headline here, but it's absolutely happening everywhere. This should be on football - it should be on fit and proper tests - but it's all about money.

Understandably, Bobby from Cowgate cares more about NUFC than he does the Middle East, or human rights, etc. And I get that. But that's why they're doing this. The money's fuck all to them. The head of PIF has a painting worth more than they're paying for NUFC. It's all about cultural acceptance.
 
Serious question for the thousands of mags who infest this site. St James’ was described as a lop sides carbuncle by previous owner John Hall and with the new stadia shooting up, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, etc..., it’s starting to look a little sad to say the least.

If this takeover goes ahead and the new murderous regime decide to throw obscene amounts of blood money at the club, would you want them to flatten St James’ and build a more visually appealing stadium fit for the 21st century, or are you quite happy to keep the lop sided carbuncle?
