Interested in SAFC fans views. Lived there for 5 year and went to a lot of Sunderland games
It WILL go ahead. Ashley is desperate to get his hands on all that cash. As the lockdown decimates the retail sector Ashley will be like a kid in a sweet shop buying up bargains. No one else will have the readies to compete.

there was a time in my teens/early 20’s when I was bang into Facebook banter pages etc, arguing back and forward with Mags all day, where this would’ve tipped me over the edge  but when you’re a 32 year old father of a toddler just trying to pay the rent, debts and bills during a global virus pandemic and quite enjoying following the lads because Division 3 is a real novelty to you, I kind of couldn’t give a fuck at this stage in my life. We’re already about 40 places below them, what difference is another 10 gonna’ make?
ultimately Newcastle aren’t the yardstick I’ve ever measured Sunderland against.

It has been an enjoyable few years with 1008 messages achieving 534 likes.

Impressive stats for somebody who was effectively acting in subterfuge or, less subtly, taking the piss.

Special mention for the one board member smart enough to identify that the avatar was agent Joe Pistone. I could have went with a more obscure covert ops avatar, Robert Maheu, perhaps but that would not have given you all a sporting chance. Recommended reading by the way, the life story of Bob Maheu. So far fetched you would think it was fiction.

At this juncture there is little to gain. The gap between ouclubs threatens now to become an irrevocable chasm for more than a generation indeed a lifetime.

At that point any thought of rivalry will be a mere footnote in the memory.

Perhaps, this is the most dramatic departure since King Kevin left in a helicopter. I am too modest to say.

In short you've been rumbled and are squirming like fuck now so you're leaving the board to avoid anymore embarrassment. I honestly pity how pathetic and sad you are.

Sad sack you’ve jumped off your sister to come and start this thread on here pathetic!
Not to worry, dads always there to help out.
Will definitely go ahead. Lot of mags will be ecstatic until they realise they won't be the next Man City when the spending will be modest at best. Why has it taken so long? Why wouldn't they just pay the 350m up front if they had so much money?
Exactly, far too many getting worried/excited about this.

Subterfuge?! :lol::lol:

It appears you've spent an obscene amount of time on this thread on a blatant wind up. We could all see it. Mods too but they like the traffic so you stayed. But most of the time ignored.

It must be weird to need to get your kicks the way you do. A desperate desire to fulfil some weird f***ing superiority complex.

Just one last question from me. Do you have learning difficulties?

If these take over Newcastle and spend serious money to get them challenging the top five, the cups and playing European football regularly then it will be disastrous for SAFC with us being in our current predicament.

We just won't be able to compete. It will be like Oldham against Manchester Utd. They'll attract shit loads of plastics from across the North East and beyond. Judging by comments on social media there is a shit load of neutral fans who have a soft spot for them. Probably because they've had a night out up there and people from outside the area love North Easterners, the accent and our friendliness. To many North East = Newcastle.

The one silver lining if they do become super successful is they'll lose some of their identity as working class Geordies will be priced out of the ground in favour of corporate fans and tourists paying over inflated prices. Mag fans will be labelled plastic glory hunters (just like all City fans are today) from other supporters even if they'd supported them since the 1970s.

Another horrible but possible scenario is that while the above happens we go out of business. I mean we are losing a fortune in League One. We fail to go up the next two seasons and what next? We really could be in shit creek. It would just prove we're cursed if the Mags became the next Man City while we ceased to exist.

I wouldn't be suprised if the takeover falls through though and everyone is bumping this thread and the Mags all dissapear. Wishful thinking probably but we've seen plenty of false dawns.

I think we’ll call that worst case scenario 😂 the crumb of comfort now is there are city, Chelsea, Liverpool, Utd, with the ability to pay whatever they would be able to for a player. Then there’s arsenal and spurs to catch up to. Plus outside that you have wolves and Everton who also have shed loads of cash to chuck about. It’s hard to buy success now in the PL because so many are minted and the FFP seems to be getting tougher to get round

For my mag mates it would be great for them, for me, I'm being completely turned off football by my shower of a club failing to cut the mustard in the third tier of English football, so TBH I care not about what is happening up the road.

I will say though, the parallels being drawn with the Man City lot is a bit strange. The Man City owners didn't have to concern themselves with FFP when they were tossing their silly money around, so I can't quite work out how the Saudi's are going to get around it to do the same.
