Did you vote Labour when we unjustly went to war with Iraq slaughtering plenty of civilians or Labour and Tories who repeatedly sell guns to arm terrorists abroad?

This board suddenly pretending it gives a fuck because Newcastle is involved is hilarious.
There is a few clubs in the Premier League that has Saudi money and sponsorship actually.
You make a good point about the selling of arms.
IF this deal goes through..I would like to see them plough some money into the area the way the owners of Man City have

Just checking I've interpreted this correctly; are you saying it could NUFC have transferred the debt to PCP. As it is not a loan from Ashley to PCP is it, its NUFC or rather SJHoldings which is transferring the money isn't it?

Effectively, Ashley's loan will be ported across to the company the Saudis created in, I think, January to be become the new holding company for the Newcastle group. This will be paid back to Ashley through a separate deal from that the the shares in Newcastle Limited currently owed by SJH. The loan to PCP is to cover this repayment of the loan by the Saudis. There are two possibilities here; the total deal is around £300m, £190m for the shares upfront, and £110m for the loan in instalments; or, more likely knowing it's Ashley selling, £300m for the shares and he gets his £110m or whatever back in addition. Nice little earner for him when his other businesses are in lockdown.

He didnt turn them into that. He got a club on a downward slide overspending trying to reclaim past glories and had to rectify the problems without constant overspending and living on tick himself.

Maybe not exactly a roaring success on the pitch but brought a level of realism and stability financially.

To be honest as much as Newcastle are local rivals I couldnt give a shit and I'm not twisting anything. I honestly think even if this new consortium has some Arab involvement there wont be money chucked around willy nilly as its shown they've been quite careful in the price and the time it's taken some time to aquire the club.

So unless they come in and do it in a sensible way or they have an enormous amount of luck theres going to be trouble further down the line because of the expectations and it might be the case you're soon pining for the stability of Ashley again.
He did though, with his parsimony and idiotic decisions. Kinnear (twice), Shearer, Pardew, McClaren, Bruce. Not replacing our best players, not investing in the facilities, failing to attract commercial partners, rebranding the stadium. Our decline is on him. Even if we'd started to decline before he took us over, he has accelerated that decline. When a modicum of sense could have arrested or at least slowed it.

Which football clubs are owned by arms dealers?

This transfer of the debt was mentioned a few times on Tuesday, I posted about it on here a couple of times but nobody seemed to have picked up on it being talked about elsewhere. It seems plausible, but as it's Ashley he won't be wanting to come away without feeling like he's got a win somewhere.

The only person I've seen mentioning it is Louise Taylor. My initial thoughts were that Staveley was being loaned her shares because she doesn't have the readies that the other two shareholders do.

It must be funny as fuck for you lot to be honest. For the rest of us who don't really give a fuck, we come on here to laugh at the mags who are on here at 6:30am, it's absolutely hilarious.

If that was in reference to me, I have a 1 year old with chicken pox and was up at quarter to 5. I had to fill the time somehow.

Would be nice if they did , for the whole of the North East.

Kieran Maguire (thepriceoffootball on twitter) also said it at dinner time on the Tuesday.
Seems far more likely imo than the prospective buyers being skint etc

why are you still pretending to be a sland fan? What a bizarre individual you are 😂

6.39 am 🙈
I have never pretended to be a Sunderland fan. My posting history is consistent. Please waste a few hours checking.

I have said I follow the fortunes of north east football in general.

Thinking about it, that may not be too far off the mark. If Newcastle repay the loan to him as a separate deal, there are no tax implications for him; one of the attractions for some buyers of porting the club's debt to Short was the ability to extract that from the club later tax free. By separating the loan repayment as a separate item, he reduces his capital gain on the sale of the shares in Newcastle, and thus his CGT bill at the end of the day. It will be a fairly complicated transaction, because he won't be writing off the loan to Newcastle, and Newcastle certainly done't have £110m (or whatever the current balance is) stuffed down the back of a sofa somewhere. I suspect that the loan will actually be of some of the shares in NUFC, with ownership only truly transferred when he gets his money back from the club, plus the agreed sum for all the shares, including the ones on loan. I suspect there has to be some kind of offshore deal between PCP and PIF, because Stavely hasn't got those kind of resources herself.

Is this type of thing common?
