Always wondered how so many WUM's from other clubs get away with so much on here, I was banned once for mentioning the word "rimming"

Said moderator is no longer a mod.

I think they're in for a shock. Yes he's made some shit appointments and sold some players at the wrong time in terms of team progression, though at the right times in term of maximising sales, but even if they have zillions to spend they're going to encounter the same problems they had anyway. I think too many think they're going back to the mid 90's and they deserve to the top three - it f***ing isn't going to happen.

And yes I'd have him here, they do not know how lucky they are.

So you got knocked out the group stages. What I said wasn't incorrect was it

Okay, but getting through to the second group stages one year wasn't too bad of a performance, I would argue, especially given the start earlier in the campaign, losing the fist three games. At the time, Newcastle were the first club to qualify having lost their first three games. I doubt it has been done too many times since so not too bad a performance - certainly very enjoyable to watch........Beating Juventus, Dinamo Kiev and Feyenood in that first-round group stage was a decent performance.

You were expected to perform better than Kiev. Hamilton Hislop Tomasson your subs cost more than their starting 11 combined

Is this the same Kiev that had Shevchenko and Rebrov up front, did the domestic double that year and got to to Champions League semi-finals the following year beating Real Madrid on the way? And, the same Barcelona team that had Figo, Rivaldo, Pep to name just a few and who won La Liga, Copa Del Ray and The Super Cup in the same season they were so rubbish that we beat them?

We must be the only team that either gets to play shite sides or big clubs who are shite for that season when we get to play in Europe.

I said your champions League performance was awful.

In 97 98 you lost 3 out of 6 and Dynamo Kiev and PSV finished higher. That is failure.

In 2001 you did better lost 3 of your 6 games in each group stage though I wouldn't say it was a success.

Then you couldn't even beat Partizan Belgrade in a playoff.

So 2/3 campaigns were failures. I'd say that qualifys as awful myself

Kiev also beat Barcelona at Camp Nou iirc.

He's clearly just seen the club name and thought 'Aye, they're shite'

I'd welcome it. Despite the Mags protests, he's run them superbly during his tenure.

He’s overseen more relegations than any other owner in our history.

'Run us superbly'. Utter nonsense.

It's not even worth going into any detail, fundementally relegation is failure and he's done it. Twice.

This is spot on. They'll offer individual bits of criticism of him like Selling Carroll and Cabaye at times where the team wanted to progess and looked likely too. They'll offer two relegations which was ultimately under his stewardship, but it ignores that one at least was after spending shitloads and that realistically and financially they aren't in a position to realistically challenge for the top 6 and thus any of those others teams could have a bad spell and go down like they have. They'll offer some of the poor appointments and maybe they'll be correct in many cases and they'll also claim that he takes money out of the club, when the reality is (from memory) he'd put in excess of £130m in with little or no return and then they'll talk about the Sport Direct sponsorship being part of the money he's taken back????

The reality is though over his tenure they've been pretty stable overall and ran well financially when they had potential to be an absolute basket case when he took over. his biggest mistake was not doing due diligence as he'd have likely not touched them with a f***ing barge pole if he had.

See above.

He's ran you superbly because this has come at a time when your crowds don't make the difference to the finances as they have done in the past and location is more and more working against you. You aren't the club you think you are based on attendances and long term history, they largely mean fuck all in the scheme of things anymore. Like most bang average clubs in the top flight you're at risk of relegation every season like all but 5 or 6 others clubs and I doubt that will change even with new investment.

There's a shit load of new member Mags signed up to post on the Mag thread. If we were getting taken over by filthy rich Arabs of course the first thing I'd do is create an account on a Mag board to wind up the bitter and jealous Mags on the board.

Actually no I wouldn't. But maybe that's just me.

If they ever won a trophy (like the LC or FA Cup) you can bet that hundreds would sign up on here immediately after full time to gloat. They'd rather post on here than gan to the pub and get pissed celebrating.

It's impossible to go to the pub at the minute... Are you saying had you have won the cup a few years back you wouldn't have gloated at all? Here or on twitter or to mags you work with etc?

The fact your are using a teams achievements a year later is laughable 😂

Barca were in transition. You beat them in September not long after Ronaldo left and Robson went to PSV. You don't win the league in September.

They finished bottom of the group and you hold it up as if you beat Peps Barca with Messi 😂

No I saw there team. All Ukrainian. Did Ukraine qualify for the the world cup that year?

Oh they didn't did they

Mag arrogance coming into play again, always the underlying current with you lot.

It's a Sunderland message board, why would I be gloating in front of fellow Sunderland fans? I'm not on Twitter. I don't work with any Mags. Are you saying that the only reason there is a deluge of new Mags posting on here are because the pubs are closed? 🤔

I think he was merely implying they were good teams which the outcomes of their domestic seasons etc proved. That's not difficult to understand. If it's the first game of the season and you beat Liverpool it's an achievement because of how well they had been doing etc and potentially how well they still will - that's not a difficult concept to grasp tbh.

Nah that was a tongue in cheek joke. Rivals will always gloat and tbh so they should.

How was that post even remotely arrogant?
