it’s natural man that fans start dreaming, in reality you are right but you too in our exact situation would start to dream eh?

I'd feel much better about the club without a doubt. The only negative really from this is all the Saudi sportswashing and human rights press the club will get mentioned with. That's why Man United supporters didn't want to be owned by them.

It’s widely reported there will be significant investment in the club, on top of getting rid of Ashley its the cherry on the cake for us.Lets see how it goes , for now personally I’m happy with us moving on and having our fans hating the club at times.Im buzzing for now as on the face of it for now it looks positive.

Every new owner ever says they're going to make significant investment man . I think even Donald said that when he bought us. It's being reported because that's what the new owners want.

Significant investment can mean anything I suppose, and I expect that your days of being a yo-yo club are probably over.

His boss has a box at St James’ told him. I spoke to him yesterday expecting him to be over the moon about it but said it’s not plain sailing as being reported. It does sound a bit similar to our situation when Short sold the club. I’m only saying what he said mate, not claiming to be itk!

I wonder if there's am e-mail distribution list for owners of boxes so they get ITK information like this? Same as the union of kitchen fitters that do Shearer's house and claim he's a prick I guess.

I think this will certainly give you the opportunity to compete in the top half but I wouldn't expect anthing like the 90s which is evident that's what most of your supporters are expecting looking at Twitter
You'll always get some fans who are hyped up to the eyeballs at news like this and expect the unreasonable. I think youre right though and the division is a different place than it was i the 90's, and most reasonable fans know this. I'd certainly expect a top half finish next season if the investment in the playing side is sufficient. Its not out of the realms of possibility to be sniffing around the edges of a Europa place.

Don’t know why people are too bothered.

The league is so saturated now, and if they didn’t win anything in the 90’s after breaking transfer records, they’re definitely not going to do it now.

Do think the takeover will help them compete in the top half mind.

One of the richest clubs in the world when this happens

Their spending power will be massive they will get world class players

A bloke who has a box at SJP, gets the inside info, what a load of bollox....

Or the same union that slags off female posters on separate forums?🤔

A soon as we get taken over by this (possibly) Q.P.R type pretence, we're goosed, I think.
Ashley might be hated and fans might think he's been some kind of devil but he kept the club running as a club and not as sugar daddy handout hobbyist venture.

If we get taken over by these super billionaire owners and we simply buy our way along by paying ridiculous wages to get the best available players who want to come to the north east for that wage (likely only for many)...all you'll get will be mercenaries who will simply take the pee and likely leave the club in a big old plastic mess with plastic fans leaving in droves after jumping on the bandwagon. All this within 5 years or so.....potentially.

Ashley learned quickly and managed to steady this rocking, holed ship, after the mess he found it in. He then learned much more about how easily you can become despised if you dare to try and run it within its means whilst not bowing down to fan messiah's who were employed as managers.

We had a football club under Ashley, albeit tightly run....but we had/have a club where players clearly want to play, in the main and were/are paid decent wages to do so, regardless whether they don't match many top premier clubs.

The fans want Ashley gone and many don't seem to care who takes over, just as long as Ashley is gone. The hatred has become more and more fuelled over the years because Ashley would not be backed into a corner on spending and being dictated to by certain groups of fans and/or so called footballing/managerial, messiah's.

Let's put this into simple perspective.
If these billionaires come in and buy for the sake of hobbyist buying, within the rules or the loophole bypassing of them to give the fans and themselves some flamboyant football with a manager to match, they will be revered just like Ashley was at first.

If they do well with so called, blank cheques they can hire and fire as many messiah's as they wish to and there will be very little fan discontent, because it will be taken over by fan anticipation as to who the next messiah type is to come in to replace the previous.

And so on.

If the super billionaires fail to provide the necessaries to challenge at the top and merely patch the boat to keep afloat, they will soon be under the very same hatred Ashley was and is under.

I'm mid fifties and I've been a Newcastle fan just about all of my life from a bairn. I've seen the good the bad and the absolute ugly of the club and its ways and nothing changed for me because my focus was on Newcastle United football club from the ground, not from inside a rare to never to be seen chairperson's office or committee room of people.

I can be as excited watching Newcastle United in the non-league as I could watching overpaid prima donna type players strutting their stuff in spurts, but I'd get more wholehearted enjoyment about my fanatical support for the grass roots....ish of the football rather than the cry baby antics and wants, plus disloyalty of overpaid cry babies, in many aspects.

It sickens me to the stomach seeing players earning sickening amounts of money just for kicking a football about and then having the audacity to actually whine about not being paid what they're worth or thinking they can upset the applecart (player or manager) when people don't bow down to them.

I'm ranting on here.

In a nutshell we all want top rank football and we all want to see exciting football, plus transfer windows make for exciting waits at times.... but I want a fair game.
I want Newcastle United to be able to compete against every other club on revenue accrued just like any other club should do and not be run on anything other than that.
This means that those clubs who can wheel and deal the best and spot the best talent and attract the best/bigger crowds, do potentially better by those means and not by massive handouts from TV, unfairly or sugar daddies spending way and above what the club can ever generate legitimately..

I am happy with Ashley because we are stable under him. I'd like a bit better football but so would many fans of most clubs.
Whoever takes over will do what they do and I'll still be a Newcastle United fan and supporter and back anyone that gives their best for the club.........but..........?

Only time will tell on this one but let's see what the devil decides.
Elaborate subterfuge

I'd say Shearer betraying Robson means he probably is a prick like

Absolutely boils my piss when BBC News nationally describe Magpie fans as "long suffering". Try telling that to loyal fans of Bury, Macclesfield, Oldham et al.

All clubs have a stereotypical image that plays out to a national audience. They are seen as the biggest under achievers in English football.

As one of the best supported they have a higher profile.

I think that's wishful thinking on your part.

I think Sunderland Boro would become the new derby personally. You'd be the new Boro.

You've always wanted Man Utd as your rivals. Do you think we'd sell 49k to watch you beat us every season. I don't

I think you’re underestimating your support. When Man U were the best team in Europe city still showed up in numbers. Sunderland fans would never desert their club city or heritage like that in my opinion.

You seem to appear to only think one group can suffer at a time? Just because somebody like Bury fans are suffering more, doesn't reduce other clubs plights.
