Decent bread instead of Warburtons steamed paste and decent arse paper . We are using Andrex and it's rubbish compared to Lidl's own label 3 ply . And twice the price .

Curry.

I can get a takeaway but all of the good restaurants/take aways are closed and I'd rather have no curry than a poor one.

Missing performing too (and the money therefrom, obviously). 68 shows I've lost in our 32 days of lockdown here. That's a canny wedge.

Was in hospital for four months this time last year. Never thought I'd be 'imprisoned' again but at least last year I got to see my family and friends.
What do I miss most-being able to drive to see my son and grandson
and seeing my friends

Being able to jump in my old car and drive around feeling all nostalgic for my younger days.

Getting a fish lot from Fountains or Crozier Street.

Being able to ask our friendly butcher in Morrisons to cut me a thick piece of steak to suit a barbecue. The only meat available is prepacked and too thin for a barbie.

Having the missus (no) working to fill her time in.

At the moment shes just pacing the house saying she's bored all the time.
No amount of suggestions from me is helping.

I keep suggesting things to watch, listen to, walk the dog, do the garden, decorate something etc but everything is met with a roll of the eyes and "I'm bored"

I sometimes WFH anyway, and I love a quiet house, getting through my work and stealing an hour on the PS4 before everyone troops in.

So what I miss is her working with stuff to occupy herself.

Fulwell Butchers will do the thick steak for you and deliver to your home. Meat has been first class from this shop over the last month.

This, wife works in a school and is only there every 3 weeks or so on a rota. I love walking she doesn't, I love gardening she doesn't, I love cycling she doesn't. She's always bored, I'm not.
Forgot, eating out. Restaurant or cafe. Visiting family. When you have older parents, you value your time with them because you know it's precious. Isolation is an awful, although necessary waste of this time.

I've always thought "bored" means I'm not clever enough to occupy myself.

I filled in my tedious 1 hour drive to work with Spanish lessons. I suggested that she try this to fill her time in ...."nah" was the reply.
... and why is it my fault shes bored?

These days, you can pretty much watch anything, listen to anything, read anything and learn anything. I spent the weekend setting up Plex for the house.
I demonstrated this to her and told her that there is 600 movies 200 box sets, thousand of audio tracks, all accessible from every TV and device in the house.

Her reply

"Don't fancy it .... I'm just bored"

you're maybe not clever enough to be able to translate what she is saying, she misses life before the lockdown and may also be worried about the current situation

You need to find Als Kitchen my friend.

I think I might have ordered 4 take away curries in the last 2-3 years. Used to order one every other month or so.
You have to make a base sauce first, which is fine - because what the fuck else are we all doing at the moment? !

Not really one thing, I would say I just miss 'normality'.
Things you for granted like going for a walk and not having to be aware of social distancing.
Shopping is a mind f**k, following arrows and missing stuff as you can't go back, and dodging the idiots that walk way to close.
Watching the TV without constant reminders.

That and Big Macs.

Yes it's irritating not being able to get out and about and I've missed some of my birthday celebrations. But I'm not at all bored. Got plenty of jobs and painting around the house to do. Been chatting to neighbours over the fence one of which is an NHS 111 operator who is absolutely shattered. So I'm making a batch of cheese and mince pasties and going to pass some onto her as she says she can't be bothered to cook when she gets home. I'd hate to be in her position.
