It couldn't have happened at a worse time for the mags. No football for the foreseeable, when it does return it will be BCD and when it eventually returns probably they'll all be skint (as will the rest of us) cos the economy will have collapsed

I have a old work mate on twitter, who posts to the far ends of a fart about this stuff. About every 3 months he's tweeting about companies house records and tracking flights.
Its f***ing hilarious.

From an American's point of view I wouldn’t buy any football club in England that didn’t own its own ground.
A businessman losing 1/6 of his value in the past few years is something to be concerned about in normal times but in the current climate he has a much longer runway than most so will come out ok.
A type ‘A’ businesswoman that’s has mood swings and insomnia is nothing new in the business world. That’s how they get to where they are, working while everyone else is sleeping.
Arab money is drying up due to oil wars with Russia. The world is growing tired of dancing to the tune the Arabs have been calling.
Lastly, I don’t and probably never will understand the hatred between the two clubs. I only know it makes a friend of mine ecstatic when we beat the black and white scum so that’s good enough for me.
Everyone stay healthy. The rivalry is useless if you’re dead.

I actually think there's something in this.
He wants out...no question..his assets are draining away.
Money has changed hands this time and that's all the proof Ashley wanted.

He would not have"loaned" them money if he had no proof of their wealth .
Where this will leave Bruce if it comes off is anyone's guess

I'm gonna miss the Mike Ashley bashing, other than that I'm not arsed who owns them. Mainly because we're absolutely miles behind were they are at the moment. We're miles behind Boro as well and they're absolutely shite.

But there catchable.

Say this is a huge takeover we'll never catch them again

Lost ~£0.5bn of his personal wealth over the last couple of years. 'No mug'

A lot of that “ wealth “ was a paper profit on monies invested.

Unless he’s sold shares and taken a loss of £.5bn it’s almost irrelevant.

He’s mugging you lot off , but I’d say he’s no mug.

Don't blame anyone for being excited about a potential takeover.

However, you don't know who her 'rumoured partners' are, so they quite literally are 'anyone but Ashley'.

It's been widely reported who her partners are iirc.

I wouldn't have Stewart Donald as our owner so I'm probably going to have to contest your assertion that I'd have 'anyone but Ashley'

Ah yes, the famous 'wallpaper'.

Checked your pension recently @Sima , you’ll get a nice little suprise how much it’s dropped in value in the last few months , what we call a paper loss on events that you have no control over as well, “no mug “ apply here as well ?

Thought so, you hypocrite.

It might have been reported, but to me it's slightly odd that a consortium supposedly containing some exceptionally rich people would need a loan. Guess time will tell.

I’ll take it, we could be marooned in the third division

Not so sure I agree with good luck to them - that's not something I could ever wish, but to be honest I don't know why anyone on here cares about the Mags anymore. We are so far away from the Premier League now that it's of little consequence to us. If we're worried there might be another plastic Mags supporter surge, the failings of the last three seasons (and this one) are the self-inflicted reasons why, rather than a boardroom takeover up the road.
If you are living down under it might explain your ambivalence.

The Mags are our direct competitors. It’s one thing for us to be absolutely crap, but at least at work or socially we do not have to live with reminders of what they are winning, or face up to losing much of our catchment areas to them.

If they get stronger whilst we are sinking it won’t do us much good in the short or long term; but yes, we need to sort out our own club as soon as possible so that we can at least aspire to be on a close footing in a few years time.

This half a billion loss was well below the COVID-19 outbreak tbf.

You're right though, it's probably way more nowadays.

What a shame for him.

From what I can tell, Stavely is going to pay it back as soon as the backers are officially on board - at first it'll only be Stavely and she might not necessarily be able to pay the whole amount.

Similar to when SD took over us, he got himself sorted quickly and then Methven and Sartori joined soon after.
