Sururbs of Chicago - there was 7 of us visiting a mate in Chicago. One of the boys had researched a street festival and we decided to give it a bash. It involved getting the bus from downtown Chicago to the sururbs. Had no idea where we were or where we were going but asked the driver to give us a nod when we needed to get off. He did thankfully!

Getting lost in Govanhill, Glasgow - went to the Stone Roses at Hampden and didn't bother planning on how to get home. For some unknown reason we decided that it's not worth waiting for the train which will be packed and we'd look for a taxi instead. Went for a wander. Ended up lost. My phone died. My mate's phone was barely working. We ended up strolling into Govanhill  struck lucky as there was one solitary taxi sat outside a takeaway which was closed. We asked if he had a fare and he said he did but it was from the takeaway (which was closed) so told us to jump in. I was mentally preparing for a night on the streets at that point. It was beyond baltic that night. Not great.

Tenderloin in San Francisco is grim. It’s really central too, so one minute you’re beside some nice building, then you take a wrong street and you’re in an absolute hell hole. It was getting dark when we were there too. We hurried away.
Had a night out there about 10 years ago as read it was getting gentrified. Some dive bars where good but generally still rough. Glad I went though

Heading back into Rome centre from Olympic stadium after Newcastle match there years back wasn’t fun.

I went there maybe 4 years ago and felt fine. Maybe I didn't wander down the wrong streets etc'.

But as you say, slap bang in the middle really.

Kuta in Bali was so busy I was proper hassled. Didn’t enjoy the day out there because of it.

The road leading to the Taj Mahal was full of beggars and people trying to sell stuff, right in my face. When I go somewhere I expect that I’m the only one there.

Horden - walking from pub to pub I got into not 1 but 2 fights just in one street. Obviously I won them both but ended up losing my tshirt (and my house key!) so I was walking around topless until some gentleman give me a thundercats t-shirt to wear. My marra I was with got filled in by a lass while I was brawling with the big lads. I picked one bloke up and threw him over a car bonnet and the alarm went off so we all legged it in different directions.

This was the same in Manor Park also huge squads of lads with neckerchiefs on most street corners. Sad thing was most mornings you'd walk past freshly laid flowers on the way to the tube. The Olympic regeneration improved it slightly from what I've heard
Manor Park in London? I used to live in Manor Park in the late eighties, never had any bother at all, don't remember ever feeling particularly unsafe, definitely didn't see anyone fighting with samurai swords
