Coronavirus and local cricket

If shit gets any realer will 22 blokes in a field and a few passing dog walkers constitute a mass gathering?

I’d like to think not but I fear that it could be a long summer of DIY ahead..

Given the number of folk who usually turn up for the Durham v Durham Uni fixture then I imagine it will be the perfect venue for a spot of self isolation.

Even more so if they get round to putting the seats back into the Trapdoor.
Someone should keep banging on about how no one watches county cricket then they might leave it alone

A more serious question is , how will this effect the overseas players, will they still come?
I cant see it for the first two months of the season as loads of counties are on lock down and more to follow. Which will probably then see some local pros doing late switches for some hefty fees

I see that too.

Imagine how much better the scene would be if it was ploughing into facilities and junior coaches instead ☹️
Neither will be taking place in summer as this will still be going on imo

I’m no medical expert but I don’t get where the physical proximity is in a game of cricket, especially if you eat teas on your own outside. Aside from the slip cordon you’re at least 10 yards apart.

If 22 lads are left doing something else Saturday I bet they end up in closer contact with other people in whatever alternative activity they do.

I spend much of my summer crouched behind the batsmans arse, close enough to smell his breakfast thank you very much.

you’ve clearly never played for our first team then. Most of them get way to close too each other every bloody week.
