Wyke vs Thomas Hauser

Met Thomas Hauser in the Red House on Newcastle Quayside one night, talked to him for about 20 minutes, almost the whole time he talked about skiing. I asked him if he was enjoying it at Sunderland, he said yes but I really miss the skiing. Tried to change the subject a few times but he was having none of it, straight back to skiing. Canny lad like, not much good as a centre forward

Do you think that Wyke offered nothing tonight?

If so, you’ve clearly never played the game at any level before and don’t really understand football.
Semenyo looked alot better and more mobile when he came on.
Also by your reckoning and theory Sol Campbell should be a better manager than Ferguson as he played football at a higher level

He was probably piste.

Hauser wasn't great but before he got more injuries he weighed in with a few goals and he was only ever back up really to Gates and Gabbiadini and he was frequently a sub. At one point even Warren Hawke was getting game time ahead of him. Hard to say who was better or worse really as there's 30 years and a division (at least) apart between them, but there records are similar.

When the ball comes in the box, I’m expecting Wyke to be close by or at least making a run anticipating it coming in.
He doesn’t and waits too long, then the ball goes past him or he’s not there at all.
Parkinson has mentioned balls into the box needs to improve and increase, so it’s a game they are working on.
As a striker it’s a cliche, he gets judged on goals alone, which ain’t very good.
I’m surprised Laffert hasn’t started yet, but maybe loyalty to Wyke by Parkinson is more important whilst we are winning.

Can only vaguely remember Hauser cos was just a kid. I remember him being off side loads( not sure if that’s accurate) . Was he better/ worse than Wyke who I think is terrible and offers nothing.
Wyke works the defenders so that it creates space for the likes of Gooch and Maguire. Offers nothing? You are having a laugh.
Granted he hasn’t been consistent but to say he offers nothing shows gaps in your knowledge of football.

I think he touched the ball twice?

Getting silly the constant Wyke slagging off on here like.
Just because he plays for Sunderland it doesn't meant he is beyond criticism. He doesn't score goals, misses a lot of "sitters", doesn't create any "assists", wins few headers (even Bridcutt had him in his back pocket), is easily outmuscled by centre half, but aye he is doing a canny job!

Bear in mind how shite Rochdale are and their forward Henderson has scored 12 goals this season compared to the 5 of Wyke.

Unfortunately we are stuck with him for the rest of the season, so if McGuire and Gooch get injured then we will be fucked. This isn't Wykes fault of course, but the recruitment team have let us down badly by not buying a CF who looks capable of scoring goals in the last transfer window.

Wyke is awful doesn't offer a goal threat, it's a surprise when he scores.

He's utter shit tbf.
Yeah. You mention after every game we win mate. It's just canny boring tho when, like yesterday, he is still contributing to positive results tho. No-one thinks he is a world beater or owt but he is helping us get to where we need to be.

Well you're happy with him, good for you.
He's turgid

Be daft if somebody has said that like. I've had a quick look and doesn't look like anybody has tho.

Could he better? Yes, obviously.

Does he still contribute to the current positive results? Yes.
