Like a new signing since....errrrh...errrh.....since...well since his entire safc career prior to his return from injury. Everyone sure it’s the same lad? If it is then wtf was he playing at before? It certainly wasn’t the game he’s playing now!
Well done kid and keep it up. Excellent stuff.

He was looking like he was getting good last season but then his form dipped after his kid was born. Probably wasn't getting much sleep. Then he started this season off well again before he got injured.

He's looking proper class now, like. Really coming into his own. Hope we can keep him.

Vital to the high press/high tempo game we are playing. Won the freekick Maguire almost scored from my chasing and winning the ball back on the edge of their box.

Stunning goal too.
If we could get watmore back to something like his best we’ll be a completely different proposition

He was good early last season then totally lost form and had an injury iirc. when he came back in at the end of the season he had a couple of decent spells and then Ross left him out for Morgan who hadn't really done it either, which was weird.

This season despite being infuriating at times hes a top player at this level and a goalscorer, his energy is really important to us.
Early Ross he was lifting his head up and was more aware of what was around him. He looked good. When his form dips it’s generally when the blinkers go back on. They are off at the minute and long may it continue.

How much would gooch actually be worth now? Would certainly be interesting, youngish still, international and in form. I think Donald would sell £3mill?

He only turned 24 a few weeks ago, he's one of those players who will make the step up with us if we get promoted. Gooch, Hume, Willis and O'Nien are all 21-25 and will still have room for development, Hume particularly. But I'm convinced that if you put Gooch, Hume or Willis into a team with better players than us across the board (a midtable Championship side) that they would step up.

I wouldn't accept less than £15m for him at the moment.

Same goes for Hume.

Still convinced that it was no coincidence that the form of him and Maguire fell off a cliff at around the same time last season as Ross became increasingly negative in his approach.
Nee coincidence that they both put weight on . Gooch was awful for the second part of last year after being very good for the first two or three months . He’s playing very well at the minute and is very good in this league . He plays in patches and his consistency will let him down but vital to us and particularly the system we are playing . I’d worry if him or Hume weren’t fit

What's funny?

I wouldn't want us to lose either of those players. They're both young, both showing great potential, and both integral to our upturn in form. Why would you want to sell for less?

See above.
Come on man £15m.
I reckon you'd be looking at £4-£5m tops.

His direct running and energy scares the shit out of opposing defenders massively. He can go either way when running at people and draws a lot of fouls in good positions. It’s no coincidence our form has dramatically improved upon his return. What a goal as well. To be surrounded by defenders on the right flank and cut in and curl that in was sublime.

If you look at my post when I first said £15m for either of them, you'll see that I said that I wouldn't accept less than £15m for either of them, not how much the club might sell them for.
There have been some mad figures flying about recently for league 1 players; Maddison £16m, Matheson £25m, Toney £20m to name a few, from varying sources of course.
If Lionel Gooch continues to perform like he has been of late then of course he's going to draw attention from the Championship & possibly the lower reaches of the Premier. It's been know for clubs up there to spend £10-15m for their back-up squad players and with his Premier & international experience, it wouldn't be that much of a shock if a team like Watford or Bournemouth etc came in for him with a @£10m offer. You aren't that far off the mark mind!

Aye I noticed his form dip after his bairn was born, I think it was 50/50 that and the fact the side got unfit as the season went on under Ross. Gooch was blowing out his arse after 70 mins last season
