Have the fanzines cost us out potential?

On the whole spending money thing, I don’t agree you have to spend a lot and to be fair the first window was pretty decent considering we had no players left. That group did really well generally.

However, since then we haven’t recruited smartly enough and that’s more than likely down to the set up. There’s been a general lack of imagination and failure to reinforce in key areas and attributes.

I don’t believe we have to spend big, we just need to smarter.

What about them?

I was told we’ve sorted a scouting and recruitment system out.

I pointed out considering who we’ve been linked with I wasn’t confident we had.

I was then told to wait and see who we signed and then make judgement.

I then listed the player we’d signed so far and pointed out that most of them were short term signings or not what was needed.

I’m now told it’s the fans fault we’re not signing players this window.

This was when I mentioned the 3 prior.

Genuinely Donald can do no wrong in the eyes of some... I’ve always given credit to him where due. Recruitment and scouting though throughout his tenure has been awful for the most part, but now I’m told both he’s sorted it out and that if he doesn’t it’s the fault of the fanzines.

Which is it?

He has said he'll invest this window, even after the statement, so if he doesn't there's another lie from him. Phil will use your statement as wiggle room to make excuses for them, however. That is a given.
To be fair it changed from "the January transfer window, in which he was expecting to invest significantly." to "We would also like to reassure those loyal fans that we are placing sufficient funds in the club to support the manager as he seeks to improve the first team in the next few weeks."

It's not like Donald to move the goalposts, like...

It gave him the excuse to do so unfortunately. Both those quotes are from the club statement.
I know, mate. You're right what you say, but I doubt he's have invested heavily either way. It's just the excuse he needs, but it'll still do him no favours with most of our fans.

I just asked how you were deciding who was a long term and short term signing.

I dont think that if he hasn’t sorted the scouting and recruitment it’s the fanzines fault. I doubt it would be possible to judge that in one window and almost certainly not in the short term anyway.
I agree it’s been largely poor, there are a few mitigating factors but I’d agree that the football decisions have been his biggest downfall.

If only you gave Mr Donald as tough of a ride you’re giving the fanzines and RAWA, eh?

If he doesn’t invest like he said he would before and after the statement, and that is on record, then I assume you’ll be asking questions of him rather than us. Actually, no. That’s silly of me. You’ll just make loads of excuses for him in the face of all the evidence. Again.

I've spent this whole week asking for evidence of his supposed "lies" and "inconsistencies", starting with a blank sheet of paper and going right back to the first podcasts and so far nobody has managed to provide a single piece of evidence whatsoever that stands up to scrutiny, and in fact a number of supposed quotes used on here repeatedly like the "budget most championship clubs would be envious of" one, that have been used as a stick to beat SD with, that even I had taken for granted as being correct, that turn out to have been misquoted so many times that a lot of folks believe it to be true.

There's what I've been calling a "whirlwind of bullshit" about the owners on here and presumably on other social media channels too, where there's so much "evidence" against the owners that it is taken for granted that the owners must be bullshitters because even if some of it is false, there's still so much of it in the whirlwind (that nobody's bothering to check) that everyone's assuming at least some of it is true so there's no point checking.

Well, I've been taking the time this week to try to examine it item by item to find out exactly why folks want him out, and as yet nobody's presented a single piece of evidence worthy of beating the owners over the head with that stands up to examination. It's just layers of bullshit on top of layers of bullshit on top of layers of bullshit that nobody's been checking.

So as far as i can see it, for NO GOOD REASON that I've been able to yet put my finger on, WMS, RR, ALS and RAWA have potentially fucked up our season with your actions, and potentially driven away someone who appears certainly from my little investigation this week to actually be a bloody good owner.

So yes, of course I'm going to give your lot a hard time.

I agree. That is why i think the fans statement was poorly timed.

We'll never genuinely know what his true intentions were in regards to the transfer window.

Someone who has the potential to do it at a higher level. Who is young enough to develop. Who isn’t on loan.

Like the one where we broke the division transfer record?
It was his one throw of the dice. Used his funds to try and guarantee us promotion so he could move us on and it didn't work out. We've spent next to nothing since on personnel. No evidence to prove this, just based on what I have seen since that transfer.

Despite having a striker already at the club much younger and threatening to be the leagues top scorer who had the audacity to ask for more money...

This is what I’m saying, I’m not questioning the fact we’ve spent money. It’s been wasted, there is no plan.

We basically that window probably Googled top league one scorers and tried to get one, then ended up overpaying. If there was a system in place and we looked further afield we may well have ended up with something better. There is no system or forward thinking. There is no plan. Grigg has only ever scored at this level - how is that not short termism?

That’s complete speculation, he spent heavily (under pressure and a poor decision). We have no idea if that reason was to move us on.
Tbf there has only been one window since, I thought we would have invested more but we have spent pretty heavily in our time at this level.

This definitely, I guess there’s a question about how long it takes to set up structures and see the benefits of them but it does seem we are way behind.
