I know we were linked with him last season when he was at Ayr United. Hes now at Dundee United and just scored his 18th goal of the season.

He has scored 68 goals in 74 appearances since the start of the 2017-2018 season if my maths is correct.

Can't help thinking he is one we maybe should have taken a punt on as he would have been pretty cheap as well.

He probably didn't want to come, he'll have been worried that he wouldn't get a game what with us having Grigg and Wyke, the league one sharpshooters,

You're glad we avoided a young striker who looks like he knows where the net is?......odd

Hes 24 playing outside the top tier in Scotland. We’ve had a number of academy players go up to Scotland and play outside the top division in recent years.

He's playing for one of the bigger teams in Scotland, top of the league, on good money and scoring goals.

Seems like a good move to me.

He was a free transfer, was no risk.

Was no risk with the likes of Mcgeough but he’s still a waste of wages

Good move for him if he’s on decent money aye I agree. Don’t think SPFL is at league 2 level never mind league 1 level so not arsed we didn’t look at him. There’ll be a lot better players out there that were available that we either didn’t know about or didn’t take the chance on.

He lives in the same new build estate as us and we know his next door neighbours quite well (our daughters are best friends).

Not had a chance to meet him yet, but if I ever do I’ll find out whether we were ever in for him.

On the back of the fall out of signing Kyle Lafferty who has a decent (ish) record in the league above him goodness knows what the reaction would have been if we'd signed him.

Lafferty is over 30 and there have been questions over his off-field antics in the past. Shankland is 23 and as far as I’m aware is a model professional. There’s quite a big difference

It’s Laffertys not so private life that’s the concern. He’s certainly good enuff for this division.
