Whisky

I've just got a bottle as well and will be sampling tonight. Laphroaig on offer in both Sainsbury's and Morrisons (slightly cheaper IIRC) with Bowmore also on offer here.

Tobermory 12 is also one of my favoured malts and I finished my bottle over Christmas.
Mate said he had it but wasnt impressed. Still, we all have different tastes. Makers mark came today too. Really must resist until Sunday.
Bloody horrible is Bells.

A nice single malt is a wholly different ball game.
Couldn't agree more with this comment.

I’m in Leeds. At one point the bottles were organised by region, it’s a bit random these days. Of the Ardbegs on there the Alligator Committee Release is a favourite.

bastard...

lookto be some decent Ardbeg’s on middle shelf 👍

where do you live mate ?
The boxed Laph is a 28yo I opened last weekend. Cracking dram.

There doesn’t seem to be room for those poor bottles of Laphraoig at the bottom.....can always help you out with that

How long did it take you to get such a fine range of whisky?

Could have some fun with that lot 😉
Love a good malt , a few years ago I bought a bottle of glenmorangie duty free, got put at the back of the cabinet, went to open it a few years later and the cork snapped, sent glenmorangie an email to ask for a new new cork, they sent me a new bottle bugger. So ended with 2 litres to drink. Can't get away with bourbon.

been tempted with a few of the recent committee releases...worth it ?
Maybe you’re the wrong one to ask  ;)
The Laphraoig is maybe a bit out of my reach...guessing it’s rather good

The last semi decent CR was Dark Cove and even that doesn’t stand up to earlier releases. Kelpie, Grooves and Drum are all very mediocre, last years Supernova was Berger. It that’s not saying much. The 19yo Traigh Bhan was a better purchase.

Sampling the Auchentoshan American Oak and my verdict is that is fairly smooth with some smokiness which is enough for my palate but any more and it would be a bit harsh for me.

Do like the Laphroaig QC ( often got a bottle in my stash) Not had the Corryvrecckan but have had the "Uggi" which I love.

Off to Islay in May ( not for the Feise Ile) and we're doing Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Bunnahabhain and Laphroaig over the two full days we're there....can't wait
Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky bastard!

Cant drink the stuff ..... Had a bad night when I was about 17 me and a mate after a night out decided to go back to his and get even more pissed, except all he had was some cheap whiskey so we bought 10 cans of coke from the Chinese take away then drank ourselves silly ..... I puked in his mam and dads brand new VHS player and all over there new carpet ...... We passed out in the living room and woke up about 6 with a banging on the door, it was his dad coming home from nightshift and we were still that pissed telling him to fuck off he wasn't welcome ..... I was kicked out and sent home (I only lived next door) My mam (no) woke me up about dinner time and made me go and buy flowers and apologise to my mates mam and dad ..... Never touched whisky since and even the smell knocks me bad.
