Has O'Nien gone off the boil..?

I said it a when Jack Ross got sacked that he’d said that he wanted out in January, whether anything has changed I don’t know! He had Championship offers in the summer

I don't get this shite, he was and then for a season has constantly improved as a player.
He's the only person in our team who can use both feet. His touch is pretty good. The fact he's played in about 6 positions this season won't be helping him. I do think sometimes he doesn't quite know what is expected of him in certain positions, but given a run in any of the positions he will improve he's got that character. Ask him to play in goal he be training all week to be the best and when he's at home he'll be watching videos of the greats to make sure he's the best he can be.
Its the same thing with Dobson, the lads 21/22 and has played different roles already in the team, but because he looks weird when he runs and has been written off.
People scream lets play the kids, these are the kids, they need time to become rounded footballers in a structure that allows them to flourish not play a different position, and style every sodding week.
He's canny in the air aswell

....erm did you not read "great enthusiasm tho".... it's not shite, it's my opinion. He should be able to play with both feet ffs. My 11yr old plays with both feet.
The rest of the team don't and they don't get he has no technique thrown at them. Thats my point the lad has good skills and is one of the only players we have who could play at a higher level.
I agree that all players should be comfortable on both feet but they aren't.
I hope your kid makes it, good to see that kids willing to put that work into their weaker foot.

Never been a fan tbh, a lot of people seem to think he's still very young as well. I personally can't see him developing into anything here other than a league one standard plodder.

I appreciate some of the comments on O'nien and he's inexperienced at a higher level, but at 25 he isn't a kid.

I also think Dobson gets stick because he's not done too well and his distribution can range from average to woeful. He looks what he is - a lower level centre back come defensive midfielder.
Alright I'll give you I was pushing O'Nein is a kid! But he's still a younger player who can improve.
Dobson has yet to start a game a holding midfielder! We've even played him right wing. Thats kind of my point that because he actually is willing to run pushed him further forward. Dobson is hit and miss, but again he's improving and showing he's willing to improve further.

He’s slowly but surely being suffocated here. He’s having his enthusiasm drained from him.

Sorry like marra but Dobson is not improving imo. When did he play right wing?

Tin hat on here....but O'nien is just your average league one footballer. Great enthusiasm tho.

I think he's a much better right back than midfielder and thats where he should concentrate on learning the position and make it his own. McLaughlin is awful imo. I do agree that the Championship would possibly be above his level. To be honest though, he's the least of our worries right now.

Bang on marra.

Cant remember exactly and I cant be arsed to look back, it was probably a cup game.
Dobson is no world beater, but there is definitely a player in there.
I still think that neither of them have played in the positions that they should and would help the team out massively.

Honestly don't think Dobson has played right wing mate. Respect your opinion but i can't see anything in Dobson. Needs to cut out the tabs for a start.

Never from the start, but I think he's been moved there a couple of times. Scunthorpe could be one, its when we've moved from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1 but O'Nien has been at rightback. It seemed odd which is why it stood out. He might of just been really out of position all that time though!!

Which tells you everything you need to know about our current state.

He's a decent League One player with an excellent attitude.
I think he could hold his own in the Championship, would that not make him a decent Championship player ?

Edit - As a midfielder not a full back.

Probably sick of carrying the team in recent weeks. There's no point in him working his arse off if no one's going to help him out.

I haven't really noticed a massive change in personality, he's the least of our worries and we need to hang on to him for as long as we can because in recent weeks he's the only one who's really been playing with any intent
