Hearing McGeadys left/walked away from the club

We can’t have paid him off, why would we? We could get a small fee in jan.

But then we paid Cattermole his full contract worth so god knows

I sincerely doubt we would have got anything for him, most likely we would have had to continue to pay a portion of his wage for him to go anywhere.

Long list of paying players a wide margin from there output / value.

Dont want to make this into another Maja thread but had we paid him what we were/are McGeady the club would be 5m better off in assets. Decision after decision crippling the club.

Why does AM have to play on the left wing. he's a right footed player that could do damage either going down the line or cutting in. Surely it must be at his own insistence. his current preference has left him as a one trick pony. If so, good riddance

One of our most skillful players and one of the better in this division on his day. Absolutely shocking attitude however.

Management is about more than tactics though. You need a manager who can coax and motivate players like McGeady

If he's been made a scapegoat and he's been paid off / walked then what a shambles.

For the sake of what three weeks until the window opens you'd think they'd be able to remain amicable then get rid

Another stain on this club if true
He did not show anything like a shocking attitude when playing with a broken foot last year, getting injections to be able to run. I would suggest that any attacking player would be depressed by the defensive line up the manager put out on saturday.

I wouldn't be particularly sad to see him go but if he has, by mutual consent, then it would scream out that the club are intending sticking by and with Parkinson which would be the depressing part of the whole thing.

I'm sad to see him go. Hugely talented by L1 standards. But 'liked' as I agree totally that it points to sticking with Parky.

Agreed.... but the reality this year is our best performance by some distance came with Gooch and Watmore. High pressing and pace is the way forward in this league. They're severely limited players but so is everyone else in this division... McGeady can't apply a high press or never wants to.

I've got no problem with flair players being carried at times by the team.... but when they're off form it's not worth it. Sadly we'd reached that point with McGeady. Would've been nice to have the option on the bench like.
Exactly - which is why Watmore is played......unless you come up against the mighty 15th placed Gillingham and then you pack the team with defenders and no pace in the team.

People need to realise that getting rid of the likes of mcgeady is not a good idea. Ever since the Bruce days it's been downgrade after downgrade. We will replace mcgeady with someone worse than him, then replace him with someone worse again. Until Donald is no longer the owner this is going to get worse and worse and its us fans who suffer.

If the club actually did something brave and purged the entire squad this January and stated that we were rebuilding with the intention of going next year I might give them some credit. Don’t see them displaying that level of intelligence though.
What does that even mean? Try and sell them all in January, or pay up their contracts? How does the purging process work in a 4 week period?

I'm not a huge McGeady fan and we have at times (Not so much recently) looked a bit more fluid without him. However we simply aren't in a position to be letting our best player go if we have any serious ambitions of turning this season around and rising up the league. He seems to have found a similar situation to Coleman in that Parkinson uses tactics that almost exclude him from the game, and given the sharp decline in performances since Parkinson arrived I'd suggest the real problem here lies at the manager's door. McGeady could do more but the body language of a lot of the players is very telling at the moment, they are not buying into the manager's philosophy and clearly aren't enjoying their football.

Fair points in response to a speculative opening gambit from @CLENK88 but has McGeady actually gone?
