4 - There have been four Premier League victories by sides with less than 30% possession this season, with Newcastle responsible for two of those (26.6% tonight and 19.8% vs Spurs in August). Raiders. #SHUNEW pic.twitter.com/lzTwC9BTlv

I've spent the entire day after Southampton won hearing about how after they lost tonight there'd be no more talk of him being better than Rafa as they'd be right in the shit. I honestly don't know how to approach tonight with them.
I think they are happy tonight, I shouldn’t worry.

So shelvy runs through after the flag goes up and puts it in the net = VAR check and goal

Shelvey runs through after flag goes up and misses target and goes out = free kick to sheff utd close to the half way line

Shelvey runs through after flag goes up and keeper saves it and takes control of ball = ref blows whistle and stops game, free kick to sheff utd by half way line

Shelvy runs through after flag goes up, keeper comes out and controversially fouls/tackles shelvey, no goal scored = back to offside decision? Use VAR for offside, then VAR used for foul/tackle

f***ing simple man

I suppose he was the smartest guy on the pitch. Presence of mind to finish the phase of play off and wait on VAR.

It’s crazy. If Dean Henderson had have fouled him, not an overzealous challenge that could be a red due to dangerous foul, but nontheless a baltent push in the box, VAR wouldn’t even look would they ? I’m not sure, Stuart Atwell probably couldn’t yell you. All down to the people in Stocksley Park ...

I'm not denying that. Fair play to him. I've detested VAR since the 2018 world cup, and although it was argued it was teething problems back then, somehow it seems to get more farcical every week. Hate it

How? Even if that was disallowed it still would have been 0/1
Stop being bitter man and be happy for your betters
The game was as flat as a pancake after that. I don’t think any of the players or fans could believe what had happened.

The Sheffield defence deserted their post. Absolutely shirked responsibility. Putting hands up appealing for offside ala Adams and Bould 1992. No excuses.

Well if it needs incidents like this to demonstrate that VAR is an ass. So be it.
