The sad reality of life in Britain is that anyone of any note in the public eye, gets absolute dogs abuse on social media (and this place, for avoidance of doubt, is a form of social media).

It started with politicians and high profile celebrities - now it's everyone. Give people a keyboard and a veil to hide behind and loads of them turn into *****. Sad.

If you can't see this and won't admit to it, you're turning your eyes away from where we as a society. Least surprising thing in the world that Donald is getting some, and there's no excuse - any excuses are victim-blaming. He shouldn't have to put up with it. Nobody should.

I can totally see now why we took the loan, even if they reckon they can cover the amount themselves - the yanks will become more and more involved from a financial POV if this initial cash injection is used well and we see little bits of success (promotion etc).

if SD is being honest and it’s exactly as he says it is, this could be good for the club and he’ll have done well to set it up.

my only reservation is the people deploying the capital have shown they’re probably not the best people to make the most of it.

I hope to god we use some of the cash to bring in more football people - people with more experience and more successful backgrounds

It's a trade-off. The established media does definitely see its job as asking tougher questions than the fan media does, so he can expect some. But I wonder if they feel that the fan media, closer to the detail of recent events, might be about to shift from asking inane questions and general chuminess and start to ask even tougher ones than the established media.

It's the right decision either way - and I think they should prioritise more traditional and professional communications channels henceforth. The whole make friends of us on Twitter never impressed me - but if that's gone now, then good. It's small-time and contributed, somewhat inevitably, to the backlash we see now. Not that he deserves the levels of abuse he gets - nobody does.

I am definitely more sympathetic to Donald than Methven. I think Methven is a total charlatan. Donald is a wideboy but his heart is in the right place and his flaws are quite human and relatable.

Business owners have a responsibility to their stakeholders, and we are the primary stakeholder. If we go there is no club - especially at this level. So to say we should like it or lump it is doing a disservice to a lot of people who are well within their rights to be concerned over how the club is run.


Whether intentional or not, given his comments last night I'd like to hope that this loan or investment or whatever ya wanna call it will in a way motivate Donald & Co. to get this club going again if that makes sense. I'm not saying he wasn't motivated anyway, and if I'm honest I'm struggling with the right words for what I am trying to say, but in a way the fact the clock is now ticking on this money does give us fans the security that no, he can't fleece us, he can't flip us, and nor can he rest on his laurels and let the club stagnate in the lower leagues. He's laid bare both the carrot and the stick, and now has a sword of his own making to fall upon. For us fans, that could be one of the best moves he's made since coming here.

I think you missed my point mate, it was said there was a non disclosure agreement in place, so very limited to what they can say or do outside that agreement.
I know for a fact the investors were made aware of the abuse he (SD) got and I understand they thought it sad that tossers on a fans forum and twitter and other social networks, can bully and abuse a man and his family because you/others disagree with how he RUNS our club, runs it being the important part.

The positive thing from this is that FFP clearly want to be involved

Donald and Methven, as I said at the start, have spouted too much hot air and contradicted each other, they realise this, they have a massive January coming up, he's made the decision rightly or wrongly with the manager, and has to back him, nowthat we have some funds lets hope they get the recruitment right, we still have a chance of going up as this league is shite, we need to shift the disruptive lazy players and get some togetherness, once the fans see this they will be onside, no reason why we can't go on run of wins.

I think that is a perfect reading of the situation. The only questions this leads me to ask

What if the £10m does not result in the acquisitions to get promoted this season. At that point it can get consumed by the working capital of a club operation costing more than it turns over.

Shifting under performing players and replacing with better is often multiple transfer windows. There is a good chance there might be enough bought in January to make the play-offs at least. What if it ends in the missing out on promotion,

How long is it before the Americans call in the loan? Either by taking charge on the property or demanding a full (cheaper) purchase price from Madrox.

mot just seems this is far from the straight road you suggest. Under performance on the pitch could collapse the whole thing.
