Significant investment by FPP has been made

In short - they're full of shit and take us for fools. "Assholes and parasites". That's what they think of us.

I just think in the early days particularly, when there was a drive to re-engage supporters, there was a propensity to speak first and think later. It’s such an iffy game to attempt to be transparent on issues such as finance and budget when answering off the cuff questions by novice journalists or fanzines. When answers arent given with absolute clarity and precision it opens up further questions down the line. That almost inevitably leads to re-explanations, further statements or climb downs which then creates doubt about sincerity.

And it’s fair to say there has been a lot of further clarity required on certain issues.

Yes but come on. You have to realise where they were starting from. They didn't become Champions of England because they suddenly got better at flogging shirts and recruiting. Their brand is built on the success which was brought by investment in the very thing that matters first and foremost at any football club in the land - the team. This isn't some chicken and egg conundrum.

So you're angry that it's £10m to be spent on the club's future, not on the club's immediate present?

Even though you have no idea of whether that was stipulated by the investors or not?

And even though you have no idea of whether SD/CM plan to fund a spending spree in January themselves in addition to securing this investment?

And even though you have no idea of whether these same new investors plan to invest more between now and January to spend on players?

FFS man, just be happy!

If it is the bare minimum of £10m, that is a huge investment for a League 1 club's scouting, youth setup and infrastructure.

Why are you still desperately scraping the barrel for morsels to leap upon? Why can't you explain why you're so enraged about improvements happening at SAFC?
How far does £10m go in that respect? Genuine question as I don't know.

I'm yet to see a single improvement that actually matters in the past 18 months, so sorry if someone sticking a few quid doesn't get me jumping up out of my seat.

He is a manic depressive man it aint going to happen :-)

You think I'm a WUM for not understanding why people are getting angry on a day that has seen huge investment brought in to improve the club?

Aye, definitely need to drop my dosage like. A few on here need to start taking it, by the look of this thread.
is less than 10m huge investment?

I'm tapping out for now. Got better things to do with my day... I really hope that this investment, in whatever form it arrives, helps us both short and long term. I just don't have much faith in the current owners to do the right thing based on the last 18 months and on who they have in place to spend the incoming cash.

I really, really hope I'm proven wrong but that's just my informed opinion.

No. You assume far too much.

You have as much idea as I do regarding those things.

I'll be happy when we have a team to be happy about.

I didn't see people complaining that we got Grigg at the time. It's just unfortunate...again... that Sunderland are paying one of the highest wages in the league for another player who is not even on the scale of 'form'.
I did like. It was a poor signing at the time. Vastly overpriced and didn’t do anything to deal with the deficiencies the team had.

I just think it's bizarre you can't find fault with anything the club do despite where we find ourselves in.

I find fault, I just don't shout about how angry it makes me, especially when I'm aware that I have pretty much zero information about the goings on behind the scenes and therefore am in no position to determine the cause of the fault.

The thing is, almost all our fans have as much information as me - pretty much none - and yet there's a subgroup of this zero information category that make up their own conclusions based on joining the few dots they have, and getting really angry about this scenario that they themselves have invented!

The way I see it:

What we had during Short's reign: A club that was spending more than it was bringing in to try to "buy" success but ultimately failed in that task, and stuck us with a massive infrastructure and a take-the-piss mentality behind the scenes.
What we had at the end of Short's reign: A club in freefall that was haemorrhaging money, still with a massive infrastructure for a club in our division and still with a take-the-piss mentality behind the scenes.
What SD/CM did immediately: Stopped the freefall and made us a sustainable club while cutting out all the deadwood behind the scenes, ready for investment and a revamp.
What SD/CM are doing now: Rebuilding everything that needed pulling down and rebuilding. Bringing in very wealthy investors who may well choose to invest more in the future.

It might not be happening at a breakneck pace, but things are happening nonetheless. Improvements almost certainly. It's essentially still a building site, but one that has grand plans that are designed to make us all happier. Is this not something we should all be saluting?

Fingers crossed all round....we need an injection and this a massive positive. I just hope those entrusted with spending the money do a better job than what has happened with most of our spending over the last 10 years or so. The Grigg signing alone shows how easy it is to blow cash even at this humdrum level.

well no other club in this legaue has £10m to spend on that stuff..so it puts us ahead of everyone else..i think one thing mentioned is asocuts to be employed in scandinavia to find players..i doubt any rival club has that..

The whole thing was bizarre as far as I could tell. No signing guarantees you anything - you just hope for the best. But the manner of it was all just a bit off. It smacked of desperation to appease the fans and went against the grain of a lot of the things they'd said beforehand. A mad gamble and it's not his fault it didn't pay off.

So what's actually happened, I mean I get the loan/investment but whats happening with the recent changes at HMRC.

They've just restructured the capital side of the balance sheet to eliminate the share premium account and reduce the share capital, which will have the effect of clearing the deficit on retained earnings. To be fair, it was looking a real mess and in need of tidying up.
