Significant investment by FPP has been made

yep, but i paid particular attention to it as he also used takeover which at the time seemed strange as that's around when the talk of a deal 'stalling' was being mentioned.

the word 'takeover' is seen 15 times in that article according to my word search 🤣 😂 🤣 😬 🥳 🤦‍♂️
We wait with anticipated breath. A rainbow appearing amidst the gloom

Before i get excited I’ll wait for confirmation of the investment with proof kf figures, everyone is jumping to the conclusion it’s 8 figures, it says “but are believed to be investing a sum AROUND the eight-figure mark”. That doesn’t mean it’s 8 figures it could be close to 8 figures.

This exact point is exactly what I don't understand about this board!

Some of the richest people in the world have just pumped 8 figures into a third division club.
(where the f*ck have you ever heard of this amount of investment to a club at this level before?)

They've done so specifically to fund player recruitment, scouting and the academy.
(So they're not only 'playing the long game' because of the strings attached, but they're funding the sectors we've all thought were failing so they've done their homework - people DON'T do this with 'loans').

Over ten million quid to be spent in the right areas on a third division club!

Imagine if the same people had pumped this money into another club?
People would be slashing their wrists on here - "how come this never happens to SAFC?

And the thread discussing the minimum ten million investment in a third division club?
" underwhelming"
"need more clarity"
"it's not a takeover FFS"

I dispair of this board sometimes.
(I've a feeling I've said this before...)

90% of this was caused by the owners leaking news of a full takeover getting everyone overly excited with no denials ot playing down.
The way we have leaked the confirmation? Through the Sunderland Echo? Why no official statement? It’s very suspicious this. Sounds like a loan that our ownership is trying to spin into something it’s not! I don’t trust this ownership at all...

Its all gone very strange in the last three weeks. Lets hope Donald comes back from his hols and does a podcast to explain all.

@Grumpy Old Man is it possible for FPP to be paying out on a future option on buying shares at a fixed, cost?

It's possible, though the surrounding tax planning could be problematic. They could also take up new convertible preference shares, which would be non-voting (and thus not change the current ownership structure), but which could be converted to ordinary voting shares at a future date, and thus allowing them to gain control.

I'm basically in the dark till I see more detail on this.

While we have now hit our lowest ever ebbings that man has been living it up over in Japan enjoying the rugby World Cup without a care in the world!! Pisses me off as there is so much work to do. I bet he celebrated Oxford beating us on Tuesday night by indulging in a few salmon skin rolls..

Show me proof of the owners leaking news of a full takeover.

Like so much on this forum, it is drivel that has become fact. The blame lies with the fanzines themselves who were guilty of getting over excited.
The club / the owners said nothing of the sort.

Jesus wept.

So has the deal been completed or what?

I am confused by reports the last few hours. One seems to say it is just a cash injection and others more recent appear to say the deal has been completed.

People keep mentioning it's only a loan.

Well answer me this

Why would 3 multi billionaires loan a third division club in the north of England who they'd probably never heard of £10m for a minuscule return by their standards?

Oh and why would they spend months doing due diligence to loan a tin pot club £10m?

Honestly some people on here 😀

Good post. I dare say you could buy most L1 clubs for the rumoured £12m.

In fact when SD bought the club his initial payment was £15m. These guys have almost matched that but it’s to go into the club (or so we’re told). It has to be a good thing.

I think the board are being cute by saying it’s going in to infrastructure and scouting. It’s better than announcing we’re going on a player shopping spree. If SD really was struggling to put more in and this allows us to even spend say £2-3m total in January that could be enough to boost us into the promotion spots.

Its the same on twitter. People moaning for months that SD wants a quick profit and that he's botched the deal, then moaning right down to individual words SD said in a podcast 6 months ago etc. Now its moaning because it might be a loan/downpayment/investment/beginnin of a future takeover but its not clear enough. Moaning because we don't know exactly how much they've invested, moaning because SD and CM ( The two blokes who have secured the investment) are still running the club. I've even seen moaning because Sartori "hasnt put his hand in his pocket enough". Like any of is know whos actually funding what and i've never know our fanbase to be so obsessed with where the money is coming from etc.

I really dont know what people want? Whatever form of investment this is, it can only be a good thing. 4 billionaires arent going to send us millions of pounds, not follow up on it and not expect a return down the line.
Top post. Some on here need to read.
