Significant investment by FPP has been made

Not one to speculate, but this sounds like some investment in Capital of the parent company which will undoubtedly be linked to share conversion at specific gateways / timescales. As the value of the club increases, following promotions and improved financial management, the “investment“ converts into staged ownership. Sounds like win / win with the current management focused on achieving the associated increased club value in order to achieve the ultimate return. Think of it as incentives to perform. I suspect that the shareholding will end up having some form “A” and “B” shares.

Seems very strange and appears we aren’t going to find out what’s going on anytime soon.
Hopefully it’s the start of something big, but can’t help feel a bit cautious about it never known a deal like this before.

Incidentally, the first reference I remember from anyone to a loan type arrangement (it seemed strange at the time) was from @blanco

Here's what he said at the time which may add a bit of meat to the bones:

Some investment will come in and it'll be announced 24-48hrs, from MSD
Sec loan and resources to take the club back to big time at which point they'll take control
Things are too small fry currently for them to be overly excited
But this will work for everyone
Good spot!

Photo by Mark Fletcher/MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images Put all rumours and speculation aside and instead focus on what we know - what does the Sunderland Echo’s statement regarding investment by the FPP Sunderland Ltd group actually tell us, and what does that mean for the club going forward? The article posted today by the Sunderland Echo...

That article is a little condescending mr robot.

I think people who are asking questions are right be to be asking questions, it was a takeover (all facts/statements pointed to a takeover) now it’s an investment which is good as hopefully it will result in a takeover, but why has it changed when donald has said if it’s right for the club he would leave and these guys would obviously be right for us more than Donald & Co, so for them to still invest says to me Donald has stopped the takeover happening as why would they want him at the club with the record he’s had so far. Time will tell i guess.

It’s not the done thing to look a gift horse in the mouth so I’m told. Yet kicking one in the bollocks seems fair enough to some. It’s never ending on here.

It's mind blowing, yet sad at the same time. In society now, nothing is ever good enough and people hunt for anything remotely negative. If there isn't anything, then it appears fine to just make something up!

Don't really have time for the argument. Also, I don't pay enough attention to who posts what (bar a few).

Also, calm down. I don't think you're one of them anyway

I think the only ones who come across like they don’t want it are on a wind up anyway.
No fan in the right mind wouldn’t want it to happen

Investment is focusing on developing the scouting network across Europe and UK. Sadly Coton is in charge of this.
Big chunk is going on the development of the academy and bringing in younger players.
The area us fans will notice is the swapping of the ticket office and the club shop and the building of a supporters bar on the east stand and a new fanzone.

Won’t be a great deal spent on players unfortunately.

I don’t know how SD can think the club is worth more than £15 if he paid £15mil for the club and sold 20% for £3mil to juan surely that makes the club worth £15mil I can’t see why shares would increase as nothing has improved.
Not hemorrhaging money might have something to do with it. I'm not SD's biggest fan but you must acknowledge he's hugely improved the clubs financial outlook from when he took the reigns. I don't think we'd begrudge him making a few quid off the back of that surely?

These fellas don't invest without expecting a return on that investment. They'll only get that if we're doing well, so personally I'm enthused by this (albeit its not the grand takeover we hoped for).

Hopefully this investment will help us keep hold of our best academy prospects, who are being picked off for pocket money at the moment, as well as invest in the first team and wider infrastructure too.

Whee cares about the inner dealings of the multi-billionaire klerb as long as it gives us a platform to move forward....less accounting on the terraces more action...
