Takeover

It's still bizarre that rather than enjoying the fact that we're about to welcome 3 or 4 billionaires to Sunderland and what is hopefully a very bright future, everyone on this website just seems to want to bicker about whether its a takeover or "investment".

I get that some people believe what they want to believe and no stranger on the internet is going to change their mind. So lets stop acting like spoilt little kids and just enjoy it for once. The announcement is almost upon us :D

There is a massive difference to be fair.

"Investing" suggest adding money to a broken setup.

Takeover suggests a new setup.

he has done at least once, after Ross was sacked:

He (SD) said: "There's no connection to any takeover news."

I've posted this once or twice before but the threads keep getting pulled... 🥳
"it's the year 2135 and Sunderland fans still gather every Friday to celebrate the 'takeover day'

no one is sure when or why this tradition started."
ever since though it's been investment, two very different things

tbf a takeover could simply mean buying the club from the current owners and doing nwot else..

investment means putting money into the club..

RIP off of the asking for Brexit extension one, boo get your own material ;)

I'm sure he will want to keep them happy if they are involved. It's how he is going to make a profit from all this.

If I was betting, I think they believe they will make their money from raising the clubs value rather than an operating profit. Seems risky to me, for the club at least.

It will be staged investment with them taking increasing control. No way they are going to lump money in and not have a say in how the business is run
thats how private equity works...they buy in..and leave management with experience of the industry to run it..doesnt mean they wont take an interest in the big picture..but they wont do anything day to day..its how private equity works..these guys are private equity and invested in dozens of companies..they catn do all of them day to day,.and the clienst who give them money to manage will expect them to focus on the other companies..not their hobby in england..

they wont make much from operating profit..especially as accumulaed losses mean dividends cant be paid for years..so it will have to be the former not the latter..
 here he is.
you know they have full time jobs in another country? their bosses will want them doing that like..

Well yes, it could Kildare, they could also buy it and then close it down. Seems a bit of a spurious argument.

"Investment" actually means buying a part of the club, no?

Either way, I think a cash injection, if thats what it is, will be poorly "invested" unless we take the necessary steps to be confident in the staff.

of course i was being pedantic..and a bit facetious..mocking really the people trying to make a major distinction between the two..with have no idea what these guys want.

i agree though..more money wont solve anything until we have the right structure..then the right people..in charge of the budgte. removing ross was step one..but its a small step in the context of ehat is needed.

We are led to believe this is a long term thing, no?

Raising the clubs value for profit means you have to get in the premiership and sell without losing 150 million, all for a pittance if you can find someone to sell to.

why? the only way to for them to make money is for you to get promoted

it obviously won't be crazy levels of spending as they will have an eye on the profit
