But he had previous getting teams up at this level and spending nothing doing so, managers can be adaptable with the likes of mcgeady and Maguire he might have us playing well
Here’s a quote from Andrew Davies in the echo article that is designed to get us up for the appointment.

“That was probably his forte - getting those good players and tricky wingers to track back and help the full-backs. That was his biggest trait, for me.”

His biggest trait is to get wingers covering their fullbacks. Fuck. My. Life. Hard work isn’t going to get us up. We desperately need an attacking plan that allows us to create more high quality chances. As always I hope for the best but with this owner, this structure and this manager I’m most certainly expecting the worst.

It is me
It is me mate. First game 1977. I’m 52 and I grew up on the takes from my Dad if Shackleton and Clough. A sad sad day...
Didn’t think I’d feel anything after the play off final last year, but it’s horrible this. I said in a previous thread I’ll probably pack in going if these come in. A season of ground hopping beckons for me, something I’ve wanted to do anyways...

But i thought XG was only for betting, that's what Jack Ross suggested.
I agree with the point you are making. I think we need to use sports science for recruitment as well. If we get a capable nre manager in we're still going to have the problem with poor recruitment.
It’s even wider than that. The best clubs are using advanced analytics for their scouting. If we want to develop players that we can sell on for big fees - something that would have been essential even if the Dell boys had bought in - these players need to show up well on these measures. To date in the Donald era pretty much none of our players have managed that.

People think that we’re suggesting stats are the be all and end all. They’re not but when used with more traditional techniques you can get a more detailed understanding. As you say all the best clubs are evolving and trying to keep ahead of the curve. We’re miles behind in terms of our approach.

And me. I get to about ten games a year nowadays having had a season ticket for twenty odd years. Always listen or watch on a Saturday but will find something g else to do. Straw that broke the Camels back. This owner has accepted league one oblivion by this appointment. So fuck him.

Parkinson hasn’t took training but is over the AOL now with his new assistant, Steve Parkin. Honestly the grimmest day of following the lads for me. I’m not as old as some of the ancient fuckers on here but surely it’s up there for everyone.

What's your source?

To be fair, I've discussed this with @The Cabbage about this, and he thinks that analytics will displace actually going and watching a player. To me, that's just not going to happen.

xG should and can be used when recruiting. But setting up a good scouting network is more important at this point. People overlook that it has it's flaws. I think it's good as a predictive tool, but we shouldn't be signing players purely based on their xG.

Liked him when he was with us, always dignified. Given a lot of unfair stick and was left with a very poor squad by Pardew so no surprise we went down. Got us in the playoffs the following season where we lost on penalties so not really his fault.
I know it would be an unexciting appointment but if it happens get behind him, you could get a lot worse.

I think there needs to be a mix of the two but I’d argue that the stats are the more important of the two for us at present. If you use a statistic based approach to your scouting you end up focusing your pool of players your actual scouts watch.

At the moment there’s no focus to our scouting at all, we pay third parties to recommend players from an infinite pool. Someone’s watching them, almost at random, with no view as to whether the player meets our requirements as they aren’t actually employed by the club.

If your recruitment team works together with the coaching staff to analyse what our strengths and weaknesses are statistically we can then apply these to a database and produce a more focused list of players who fit our needs instead of saying to some random “find me a left back”.

Parkinson is the only manager in their history to take Colchester to the second tier. He left straight away for Hull, a move that set his career back.
Says it all. We are now in the same bracket as Colchester f***ing United. Fuck off man...
His biggest task will be trying to get a song out of Grigg, we need to be hard to beat and strikers scoring goals
With this blokes ppg record the biggest task will be to keep us in the third tier of English football
