James hunter apparently reckons the fans have unrealistic expectations

Explain how you set up for a clean sheet?
In terms of what we should be doing or what the likes of Pulis does when he goes into a team. Low block, stay narrow and force the opponent wide. Spend a week drilling body position and team shape.

I’m not saying we do that or might aswell just get Pulis in. Just we looked badly coached off the ball (and on it) and we make a lot of stupid mistakes. We did last year too & when anyone has a go at us we are vulnerable

But it worked up Allardyce. We kept clean sheets and were scoring too. Our form was top six. Any coach worth his salt will tell you need a good spine in the team and you start at the back. On paper we have the best squad in the league but we can't put them into a team. We don't have a set formation or strategy. We signed players on reputation and availability rather than players to fit a system.

We kept a clean sheet on the 28th November and never kept another till April, yes we kept 3 in our last 6 games but we also won 3-0 in two of those games.
Can you remember us hanging on to a 1 goal lead against Southampton playing 10 men, get the ball in the net and there's no need to even try to do that.

It's a negative aspect of football, clean sheets are a bonus, when they become a talking point it's all to do with teams being quite shit to be honest.

That's all well and good but we are supposed to be a club looking at winning football matches not trying to keep clean sheets.

I did get the feeling that the echo lad and James hunter had a completely different take on the situation than the presenter and Paddy.
Now that’s either due to them having more information owing to their profession. Or they just arnt comfortable being critical of the club as it may get them in bother.

not sure which

The latter. You're stuffed as a local reporter if the club won't tell you anything

Spend it on Saturday afternoon golf better time spent...

Not my cup of tea but I can see why some like it. On this particular issue I could see the club down to low 20's next season if the takeover falls through and we're stuck with Ross.

There's not a lot of disposal income in the region these days. The cost of living will no doubt rise again over the next 12 months due to the current political situation (I know that's a completely different forum). I've already decided to knock aways on the head for the foreseeable future and put the money towards our family holiday next year. As you know my tolerance levels are pretty high, but Saturday was a bit of a watershed moment for me.

yeah but as I said above. Both Barnsley and Luton were well coached, played a more effective style of play than us, created more chances & kept more clean sheets.

Does anyone think JR is going to get us auto promoted? Not many I should assume. He had his chance with a very decent squad by L1 standards and has failed and is failing again this season. He has to go.

Why are you having a go at the fans and Allardyce over it? It was Ross who said we need to keep 20 clean sheets to go up. In the last 11 games we haven't kept any. We are just calling him out on it. Also the best teams tend to have good defenses. Liverpool being the perfect example.

When fans like you say that it should be ringing alarm bells in the boardroom.

If you play a better game, more attacking and keep the ball, generally it helps to not concede, we don't do that and didn't much last season.
We got results but our performances weren't exactly those of dominance, we blew our chance getting straight back, it's going to be a huge struggle unless something changes massively.

However it is League 1 and it's very mediocre.

There's alot going on about it, had we been winning 3-1, 2-1, etc etc no one would give a shit about what he said.
It's because we aren't and are playing pretty shit football and struggling it becomes a main focal point taking away the reality of what is going on.

Why not say Ipswich, we are as far away from Liverpool as the Sun newspaper.

Ok Ipswich then. But Ross has us set up to play this way and that's why people keep going on about clean sheets. We don't create too many chances or score enough because Ross is too conservative in his approach.

The whole football side of things is a shambles. From the owner down to the academy. The fact that Fleetwood and Wycombe are out performing us speaks volumes.

I don't think the players are good enough and don't look anywhere near a team regardless of what he does anyway.
Sad but that's how I see it.

Are Fleetwood and Wycombe's players good enough or are they just better coached and have a better game plan?
