James hunter apparently reckons the fans have unrealistic expectations

Plenty on here do have expectations that are too high, we are a L1 club in L1 not a premiership club or championship club in L1. I’m as disappointed as anyone we are not doing better and as ever live in hope ITHICS

What? We shouldn't expect automatic promotion when we have the highest paid squad and by far the highest attendances home and away. Both Donald and Ross expect to get promoted. Why is this idiot journalist so out of step?
 
My expectations of a SAFC team is one that will apply 100 % effort whilst trying to win a football match of 90 minutes duration.

Not really bothered which league or competition we are playing in either , it’s irrelevant, it should apply to every game of football the team plays.

It’s simple, the league position doesn’t lie , we are where we deserve to be , nothing more or less.

I must apologise in advance if you think I expect too much.

I'd like to hear his comment and the wider context of the conversation before I condemn him. James is a decent guy so I'd be surprised if it's as bad as it sounds
 
I’ve noticed for a while now that James Hunter seems to have a reluctance to call it as it is. Don’t mind a bit of positivity but haway, you can’t sugarcoat the current situation. And to level any criticism at the door of the fans in terms of expectations is utter nonsense.
 
Unrealistic expectations include, regular top 6 finishes, winning a cup or two, european football, Unrealistic expectations do not include being competitive against a team one of which was non league 2 years ago or a team that were on -10 points couldn't field 4 professionals in there starting XI 6 weeks ago
 
Sick of being shit on by a bunch of gimps telling me what my expectations should be.

We are in league 1 and getting outplayed by a bunch of piss poor sides. The football is abysmal and we are paying to watch it. If you can’t enjoy football in league 1 then fuck me sideways, might as well wrap it in. Bolton put their team together in literally a day of the transfer window and looked to have more quality than us. Embarrassing.

Sick of being told where we have came from 17 month ago too, they literally blew promotion with 8 games to go last season and also blew it in the play off final even though the other team kicked the ball in their own net.

Embarrassing someone is talking about expectations in league 1. Donald even said we were in a really good position to give it a really good go & we had to go up this year. His actions in the summer and by not sacking JR just say to me that’s a bunch of waffle. I’m supposed to lie here and take it because we are Sunderland and should be grateful to be afloat in league 1. This lad must be so up Ross’ hoop he can taste what he had for breakfast.

Ha'way, man! Completely embarrassed by Lincoln. Beaten by a scratch Bolton. 6th now. In our 2nd season in League 1...

Yes - we really should expect better than that.

I think some fans have a blind arrogance regarding our stature and the players we have within the league we are in. I don't think it is expectations I think it is pure arrogances.
