Realistic replacements

Need a winner and a manager who our players will react off.

Roy Keane would be a very good fit for this league and possibly above but I'm not sure about the premiership..... we're a million f***ing mile away from that kind of discussion tho.
Agree with your first paragraph, but not the second. Keane’s ship has sailed.

We need someone who is going to command the respect of our (ever-dwindling list of) “big players, which means either going for an experienced manager with a tack record of success at preferably Championship level (like Hughton, but he’ll be expensive), or a player who doesn’t necessarily have managerial experience but has done it all at a higher level than any of the players and has an understanding of exactly how big this club is (like Keane was 13 years ago but definitely not Keane - Phillips or Zenden fit the bill thinking of ex SAFC players, or somebody like Henrick Larsson who has been linked with Southend certainly has the playing experience even if he wasn’t a massive leader on the pitch, I’ve also always thought Pirlo would make a great manager)

If the takeover is completed and we have the cash to poach a manager i’d try and get Paul Cook. He’s proven he can get teams promoted from this league and plays good attacking football.

If we have to go for someone out of work i’d go for Poyet. He got Brighton promoted and I think the squad is suited to his style of play.
