Yep. They've misled and changed their story on that deal from day dot. That's their prerogative but it's mad how many refuse to accept even a modicum of criticism of that

We hope so. It certainly should be with this lot.

On the latter, it depends. Donald has only put loans in so if he wants a sales price for the club AND his loans back then it's another issue to contend with.
Is that right? Sure he’s been quoted as having put back part of the money. It started at £25m and then was down to £20m and I thought he’d said he’d paid down further. I don’t recall any mention of loans - though i may have missed them. If we’re sold it will certainly be taken into account. My own expectation is that the new owners will find a way to port the debt over to maintain a way of getting quick funds into the club. It could be viewed as a positive quality in the sale from a certain point of view.

I'm no expert on these things but CM stated that they were under no obligation to pay them back. I'm not sure it would have to be taken into account in the sale either. As to paying it down, who knows which is half the problem, it's all very avoidable.

This whole thing about the parachute payments is only a thing because of how they’ve tried to obfuscate the terms of the purchase.

If they’d bought us and said the deal was £15m but there was still £25m worth of debt to SBC that they’d want to pay off using the parachute payments no one would have batted an eyelid (well some would I guess). It was a club debt settled with club money at the end of the day. They’re under no obligation to put the money back into the club.

They’ve embellished the terms of the deal for whatever reason and it’s come across badly on them. They’re trying to save face by talking about putting it back in but they certainly don’t have to.

The problem with the latter is it wouldn't count as income now so we'd be limited in what we could spend it on.

It's hard but he's mentioned loaning the club money a few times, which makes you wonder

Sick of hearing about this now, nothings changed for weeks, every day the Echo starts the morning with the latest Take over talks and what do you get, sweet fuck all again, just like the day before.

No one will remember any of this after it’s happened and our glorious future begins

The fact they obfuscated to begin with speaks volumes. If they'd been honest people would have less reason to view the whole thing with suspicion.

This is what I've been trying to say badly for a while. There was no reason for them to say that the parachute payments were not for ES when they took over, only for CM to say they were always intended to be used in that manner after the fact.

For a regime built on openness towards the fans, what we are told is all over the place.

It would certainly be taken into account on sale. It’s the first thing a prospective owner would check - money owed to and from the club. I recognise what Methven said but we also need to acknowledge that Donald said we’d already paid some of that back. Whether all will come back in fullness of time is another thing.

They also both said that ES would categorically not be seeing any of the club's parachute payment and that they'd be paying £40m for the club out of their own pockets. Truthfully we're better off waiting until proper documentation comes out as they appear to change their story whenever it suits.

The first one has effectively come true and tbf the second one still could. You’re right about the last one though. One thing is for sure. The sale of the club tidies the whole thing up.

I knar what ya mean. At least one thing has changed. The words "in the next couple of days possibly Friday" has changed to "in the next two weeks".
