They don’t have any local knowledge really but the O’Briens do - and obviously they’ve got boxes at the stadium and are all Sunderland fans as far as I know.

I suspect it’ll be to have more local businesses involved rather than making decisions based on what may look good from the US but which locally don’t make sense (if that makes sense  )
Makes perfect sense. I’m not from Sunderland so I don’t know anything about the O’Brien’s other than their core business, but from the perspective of a foreign buyer / owner it would be an advantage to have some local perspective.

If true that he knows Methven, he was in the box with the Dell lads and that Methven was instrumental in getting them here then it makes sense that it would be the new owners appointing him. They'll want to improve business links in the area first and foremost, appointing a person who is a supporter who, presumably, will have very good links already makes sense. They'll need some local knowledge in addition to people they can bring in who can "build the brand" further afield
As usual GG speaking sense. Feels like a good mix of old school (successful local businessman on the board) and new (international heavyweight owners).

If this is true about one of the O’Brien’s being appointed as non executive director, who is doing the appointing here?

it seems bizarre to me that American finance and tech giants would buy a football club and agree to the appointment of a successful Wearside salvage dealer to the board. Could it be related to the development of the Sheepfolds?
Spot on fella who is doing the appointing?if its the delltastics the deal must be completed?

Surely they can't hire and fire people if the deal isn't concluded

Some utter shoite on here noo like....

Just alluding to that scenario has ruined my memories of Saturday mornings at concord pictures!! Or brought some back... in not sure which 😕
Blimey remember going to concord pictures one night in late 1980s and the heating wasnt working they had an interval during the movie and a lady came round asking if anyone would like a cup of tea ...the movie? I forget it might have been the passion of st tibulus was a long tine ago

I think you may be on to something. This could also be why they have said that the release of season 2 would be in the February timeframe so they could film the takeover then start working on the post production edits.

yeah, just because its planned to be released at a certain time doesnt mean it all has to be wrapped up now. theres still plenty of time for pick up shots, replacements etc. the final edit probably wont be started until december

Fook me....aye we need his carts during demolition....

I was quite obviously referring to potential business links in the community / local authority that may be beneficial to development. Well, apparently not quite obviously enough
O Briens definitely owned the scrapyard behind Joans Cafe at one point.

Thats what I was half thinking when I mentioned him in relation to Sheepfolds development. That and the need for demolition carts naturally
