Letter to FTECB

Taken from elsewhere:

Having invested in a County lifetime membership a couple of years ago, it is only right that I should thank you gentlemen for wrecking the domestic cricket season.

Thank you for absolutely ruining the enjoyment of fans across the Country by your utter desecration of the scheduling of the County Championship.

Thank you for taking the premier domestic cricket tournament and relegating it to the absolute bowel ends of the season, with lousy weather and when few have the time to attend anyway.

Thank you for spending barely anything on marketing the County Championship, and for not giving a damn about the consequences.

Thank you also for your utterly ridiculous scheduling of the RLODC , with only a couple of days between quarter and semi finals and for the nonsensical decision to strip the 50 over competition of ‘list A’ status from 2020. Truly an astute and wise way to celebrate England winning the World Cup.

Thank you for taking such care in scheduling the season such that many County grounds sit empty, devoid of any cricket for weeks on end in peak summer.

Thank you for disenfranchising vast swathes of cricket fans from the North East to the South West, by excluding their involvement in any way from your ridiculous new franchise tournament, that absolutely no-one wants, but which will shred the County season still further.

Thank you for spending millions of pounds of scarce money on this ill conceived, dreadfully planned and financially reckless jamboree in your pursuit of people who don’t even like the game of cricket, whilst perversely choosing not to promote the game to those who do !

Thank you for hiding shamelessly behind your desks at the ECB HQ, avoiding direct contact with supporters of County Cricket, thereby seeking to avoid the forthright opinions and home truths you would undoubtedly receive.

But most of all, thank you for your absolutely grotesque ineptitude and the utter contempt you display for fans of the game you are supposed to represent.

The ECB under your stewardship is an utter disgrace to the game of cricket.

Difficult to disagree with any of that but the nonsensical no toss rule to promote spinners then schedule all matchings when it's cold and wet is pretty special too

Was has been disquieting in the last couple of Championship games at The Riverside is the amount of regulars who attend who are seriously questioning whether to renew their membership for next season citing the ridiculous scheduling, the reduction of CC home games to 7, the pathetic no toss rule, plus the rumour that the 50 over games are not only being downgraded but are going to be played away from The Riverside.

I should point out that I'm not talking about the professional moaners who complain if theres a ha'penny put on a cup of tea but DCCC members who work and spend their holidays,TOIL etc attempting to watch cricket.

As has been said before the FTECB must be the only sports governing body who seem to hate the sport they are in charge of.

Perhaps they are the people who should be writing a letter! Not that FTECB will listen or give a toss like.

Whats the email address for the FTECB so I can send that in myself.

Also whereabouts you comes across this?

George Dobbel (sp) is onto the FTECB. His columns are a fantastic read wherever he posts them

His column in this months cricketer magazine is a classic takedown of an old school reporter who had criticised our modern in the previous months issue

Never seen it done so stylishly brutal as he does in the article

I'm not a conspiracy type (usually) but I'm half convinced the Hundred is primarily happening because some people can make a lot of cash from it, Harrison is doing well on ECB earning alone. Same of football and the Premier League.

Mostly overseas players and beyond doubt overseas coaches

It’s the first step to centralising the county system to ten teams max.

Irrespective of a counties ability to produce players good enough to represent england. I especially like the Peter Moores inspired Notts team losing 9 of 12 county games and winning none this season

A man the ftecb thought worthy of being england coach twice
