Bess has got about 25 wickets at about 26 average this year, mainly at Yorkshire. Don't think they're bad figures for Headingly tbh - and the broadsheets had him penned to cover Leach before the squad was announced.
He'll get more games now Leach is getting more for England. But aye, like many young tweakers, he suffers from the way the championship is scheduled.
Must admit, I didn't think he looked that good in his one test in terms of his spinning ability, but looked a competitive character. I prefer bigger turners, so am thinking Virdi might be the one to emerge. For now though it's Leach and, given that's exactly when his 'break' finishes, Ali who will go to Sri Lanka in March.
