This thing about the mags. Are people saying that this interested Sheik never existed ?
Sounds a bit far fetched.
Am I misreading this ?
Did he exist but show no interest ?
What’s the crack ?
This fella was their version of Reiver, feeding snippets though not as much and certainly little that actually happened :lol::lol::lol: Did owt actually come direct from BZG rather than some DJ?

I doubt it, it would be ridiculously expensive to add a third tier to the main stand. If you look at East and South stands they are ready to extend, they even look half finished at the back. 64,000 Stadium of Light is relatively cheap and to be fair more than enough, we could fill it occasionally but doubt even with a Man.City like side that we would average crowds more than that. 42,000 wasn't enough so we extended and averaged 46,000 under Reid. 75,000 is not really worth the cost.

That wasn't my point though...

It's the fact he namechecks American Sports. The top NBA players earn far in excess of footballer as do the top NFL one, with the average still probably higher.
Weren't the LA Clippers sold for a couple of billion, despite winning nowt, ever?

Wey I know the Carolina Panthers in the NFL were sold for over $2bn, they've been to 2 Super Bowls, won 0 and were only formed in the 1990s. Russell Wilson is earning $35m this year, for 16 games, can't argue that it's not big money ower there!

Thanks for your effort. Can you just summarise in a way that answers my questions ?

Okay mate I get that.I m not reading all that. That does suggest that an imaginary buyer had nowt to do with Ashley so how could that be attributed to making our lot pull out ?
Surely you are not suggesting that our lot would take the inate ramblings of a site supervisor in the sands seriously ?

Haven't a clue about our lot pulling out though this mag rag eventually questioned it all as you can see at the end :lol:

The BZG were very vocal and came out to say everything was progressing well and they had submitted an offer. Ashley stayed silent which was fairly typical but he didn’t deny it – and that seemed key. As it started to look like it was fading, there was another “statement” by BZG, released 5 weeks before the season started. This was released through Peter Redding of Capital Radio in the UAE (which seemed dubious I have to say) which said:

“Both parties have worked diligently in finalising a deal, none more so than ourselves.
“We have completed every aspect required in a takeover process.
“Press claims of no bids or Premier League approval processes are simply untrue.
“The current owners have cooperated amicably throughout this process and if a deal is not forthcoming it will not be due to lack of effort from both parties.”

Then……….absolutely nothing.

Nothing. It is like they disappeared into the abyss.

What actually happened with the takeover?

But then that opens a whole load more questions.

  • Do we really believe that Ashley has enough power to influence the Bin Zayed Group to pretend there was a takeover just to increase season ticket sales?
  • Why has Peter Redding, who boasted that he was in regular contact with BZG, not said another word?
  • Do BZG even exist?
  • Was it all just a figment of my imagination?

I am not a journalist but surely those who are should be at the very least asking these questions?

Why hasn’t a local (or national) news outlet pushed to find out what has happened to the “bid”?

Are we just supposed to forget about it?

Does ithe take over have to be a massive media event? It might just be one sentence on the club website! Or SD just saying we have sold the club to whoever! The information has been about for weeks now and it's not headlines on ssn or anything. We are a big club yes but we are a L1 club tho not a premier League club anymore..

Kick in the teeth ....

If I spelled things out, and named names, this post/thread would be deleted. Hopefully I've written it in a way that only the 'terminally dim/wilfully argumentative' can misinterpret. There won't be any follow up posts and you'll either get/believe it or not.
I was going to leave this until the right man, at the club, leaked it as he's promised to do when the time is right. However, if I do that, people will claim my previous vague posts were wild guesses. If I'm guessing I say so, if I'm passing on gossip/rumour I say so, if I post as fact I say so, like the fact that the takeover deal was definitely done weeks ago but that not even the current/new owners know the date of the announcement ... even now.

Some people mix up opinion, rumour, guesswork and fact .... usually deliberately.

So here it is and I'll bet the story comes out 'officially' after the takeover is announced.
The 'Dell boys' have been looking, for some time, to buy an English club to develop and leave a legacy for years to come. They looked at Newcastle, some time ago as is well known. Apparently that progressed a fair way before the asking price didn't budge due to Ashley's intransigence and belief that the club was worth it. No doubt they cast their eyes over a variety of clubs but were ready to buy Newcastle for a better price if Ashley would compromise. Move on a while and the boys are back in town looking for action. They go back to a club they've previously looked at as it's available and making no progress. Negotiations progress and become serious up to the point whereby a very good offer is put firmly on the table. 'Knowing smiles and nods are exchanged' and it seems a deal can be done. The seller's greed, however, pushes him into a 'clever ruse' and a rival bidder appears from nowhere, reported by some absolute random. Surely those free spending Dell boys will race back to rescue the deal and up their offer!!!

Errr well no actually, they decide to put their billions into a more long term but friendlier, more honest, project and reward those people they saw crying on Netflix. The Red Bull rumours may well have also had an effect and alerted Dell. The other club, who must remain nameless, are left exactly where they were and with no plausible way out. Mysteriously their 'buyer' vanishes and is never seen again, almost as if he was never there. The random reporter slinked away as well and it's not known how much, and by whom, he was paid ... but, of course, this is all fantastical nonsense, this is big business and no one would try to pull a stunt that stupid would they?
Even if that's bull**** I appreciate the craft that went into it, so it's a like from me either way 😁

He’s another one who doesn’t know how journalists work...

They simply report on what they’re told/given, no more no less. Football/sports will be slightly different as there could be sources at a club prepared to pass on info, though those people will be risking their jobs each time.
The effort to actually investigate anything is huge and they’re generally not interested in committing to that (even if they had the resources) unless there’s an inclination of something really juicy.
The local press won’t have the resources and the nationals haven’t bothered.
