Am i correct in FFP is % playing wages to revenue?

If so could players be signed as player/coaches/dishwashers etc and only have a percentage of their wage count against FFP?

Could also sell season tickets in the stand opposite the cameras cheaper so that they were always full for the TV viewers

No, as far as I know in the championship and above FFP mainly looks at losses over a 3 year period, so regardless of what you employ them as they'll contribute to the bottom line

I see your point but to me its solely about the matchday experience, I mean how many would come to Sunderland that could/would sell out a much bigger SOL, and would the City benefit that much? Wembley of the North is a nice thought but I honestly can't see it working.
 
it all depends on their plans!and nobody knows what they are!and some of the posters on here need to give their heeds a shake as they are turning into deluded skunk fans up the road .......I thought we were made of better stuff than those idiots inhabiting sid james park!

Making the sol the biggest stadium in the north east is o logical step of putting us on the map ...making us the first choice for international rugby,football and concerts is logical if you have money to burn .......but lets just put on our chill pants and sanguine specs and wait to see actually what their plans are before playing billy big balls!as i said i hope we dont turn into those knackers up the road!

Neither can I if I'm honest mate but I'm not a billionaire! If they think they can make it work then who am I to argue!

Yeah could have been, problem is we could spend millions this season, but then if we go up we've got players (or player coaches etc) on no doubt large contracts immediately counting against us. The idea will likely be to try and go up with minimal spend (we should be capable of it, even if it means peddling Ross later) and then they'll try and be creative in the championship!

Totally unrealistic thought as there's probably rules in regard to it but they could possibly buy a foreign team without the restrictions and sell our crap players for mega bucks to that team.

Just further to the bit about whether the city would really benefit, here's a thing from a good few years ago when take that were around in Sunderland, someone from the council said that a concert is worth about £3.5m to the city

Fake news...... it would cost to much and difficult to do: huge towers required to support the roof foe example would not get planning permission !Extending the ground is cheaper and cost effective in the long run!

The benefit would be for other events. If there's a concert at £50 a head the extra 15000 tickets (if it's a big act that can sell that number) that would be an extra £750k. If they can add boxing, NFL or whatever (I know some think it won't happen but you never know) then you could get a canny bit extra revenue which would eventually pay for the extension even without Sunderland fans filling the ground. When the stadium was designed it did include ensuring that extension would be relatively cheap, but that was the style of extension that we saw in the South Stand. The Stadium pitch is too short for NFL, by about 20m, so the ideal extension if they want an NFL team to be an option is a lengthening. I would imagine the only option left is the Roker End, no room at the other end and the Roker hasn't been extended yet so cheaper to mess about with. Extending the corners Eastwards, dropping the first 10 rows or so and creating a new small steeper lower section (safe standing?) with the new third tier extending round from the Premier like at the North Stand to more than make up for the lost seats - plus a new block East and West due to the extended length.

My minimal knowledge of this sort of thing gives me some comfort.

A few years ago I set up a business with with a couple of guys from abroad. All was above board but it still took a bit of time due to factors we never expected.

We had to go through the system.. If a new bit of information was requested then it took time to get it and time for it to be processed after we submitted it.

All these mechanisms of our (and other countries) inland revenue, banking system and other bureaucracy take time and will no doubt be of more frustration to the investors than us regards the time that it's taking to complete.

It doesn't matter how rich you are these things take as long as they take. The intention seems there to see the deal through.. In fact I think it already looks far past the point of them being sure of going ahead.. I'm confident it's just a matter of time.

If the money is then invested into the community including infrastructure then more opportunities arise in regards to tourism.

You've just got to look at a number of "entertainment precincts" around the world to see how popular they are.
