I still smoke a pipe once in a while, typically with my dad who is a pipe smoker. But I can probably count in one hand the number of times I've smoked a regular cigarette. The pipe smoking is more of a bonding experience with my dad. We'll sit together, smoking our pipes, listening to jazz and just talking about life. I'm really close to my parents. More so than my sister who is a f***ing lunatic. I mean we get along well, but she has four kids and is constantly running around doing one thing or another for them as they're all still young.

That sounds class with your Dad. Treasure it as I miss the chats with mine. Still close to my Mam but I don't see my brother often as he moved away.

Lennie Peters was Charlie Watts uncle. And aye, she wasn’t too shabby.
I've got a few mates in the music business. I met one a few weeks back, after a gap of 5 years or so. We got talking about this & that & the topic of obnoxious people raised its ugly head. He said that by far the nastiest piece of work he'd ever met (and he's met a few) was Watts. He was with him & a few others in a meeting not long ago. I asked him if Watts was mellowing in hoss dotage & he said "No, he's getting worse!"

make it a jazz cig and I'm golden. I love coffee and being out on the ocean. I wanted to buy a boat a few years ago but everyone I know told me I would regret it so I never did.
It was a good time off to reflect and lots of fresh air, but not comparable in any way to a pleasure boat. You wear a knife all the time and it's very wet. The suits are amazing though. I was never cold.

Do what ya fancy marra, yer a Lang time deed.
On the other hand, for the maintenance costs ya could problies hire one a few times per yr
A good friend of mine had one and he said it was a nightmare and he sold it as soon as he could.

A very good friend of my dad's lives in Newport Beach and has a boat that he lets us use whenever we want. We don't use it on our own, though, just doesn't feel right to do so. He's a nice man so it's always a nice visit anyway.

My heart goes out to you that your dad is not around anymore. When that time comes and my dad passes, I don't know how I'm going to handle that. We are tight as thieves. I spend time with him at least a few times a week and I call him every day. My mom and I are also close, but it's a different type of bonding. I still baby myself around my mom. Lol. My dad and I are a lot a like so it's basically nonstop laughter whenever we're together. The majority of my friends have/had issues/problems with their parents, but I've never had. Not even during my most rebellious of stages. They've always known how to tread that fine line between guiding me and letting me my own person.

Damn it, Ginge, you're getting me all teary eyed over here.

I’ll tell you a personal tale to do with the Stones at some point, but couldn’t commit it to writing. It wouldn’t be fair to a really nice bloke (RIP)

Hard work. Nose to the grindstone. In the ocean. Man, that would be a dream come true. What can I say, I'm a f***ing nut. But I am serious.

Evening Glen
As an act of goodwill, with the takeover imminent, the mods could lift, all bans.
A bit like a presidential pardon.
That is a very good idea Horls.
On Lennie's eye?

Not many people nar that a few years prior to their phenomenal success as a crooning duo, they helped Victor Passmore deein some labouring on a flat-roofed new build project near Easington. So impressed was Passmore that they named the entire town after them.

You daft bugger 😀

Sounds like me with my dad if replace the pipe with a pint, oh aye and nee jazz, good times, treasure them

To this day it provokes and divides opinion, which I’m sure was his intention.
Can't get much more divisive than a model village in the East East Durham coalfields, based on the Arab-Israeli war, designed by an artist & laboured by the white Ray Charles & his Mary Hopkinesque bird. Even a child of six, travelling on the Sunderland omnibus, could sense there was something, shall we say, "unusual" about it.

They sound like cracking parents, The Monk, la. It's the hardest job in the world, in my opinion, being a parent. You have to make it up as you go along. A bit like Boris Johnson's politics. In both politics & parenting, it helps if you're not a total ****. Which is unfortunate for BJ because if you take away his cuntishness, he implodes like a dog turd under a sun lamp.
