Pay them enough and they'll put on a replica kit and be your fantasy 🤣🤣🤣
John (Selwyn) Gummer likes this. At least he was into adult wimmin. Personally I couldn't properly enjoy it with a full kit wanker lass in a Chelsea strip. Or mebees a could. Blue is the colour 🎵🎶🎵. Better than eating pizza with a knife and fork.

Me neither, when Bruce had us 6th with Bent banging them in for fun we wasnt hitting 40k.

Im sure that was the start of Short hitting the breaks a bit with spending.
Quinny no doubt sold him the line if we get 40k at the bottom just imagine what we could get if we are top 6.
In actual fact there wasnt much difference in crowd size which really, proves how loyal the support is winning or losing.
That period got to be pain in the butt, unnecessary pressure built up on us filling the ground. Quinny pleading with the stay aways still get off their backside or out of pubs (I did agree with him on that one) I hope it’s not the same this time around. 40k+ crowds will return when we do climb the leagues, we should just accept what we get though and not chastise ourselves if we don’t sell out every week.

Gate money is an increasingly small percentage of overall revenue, still important but we all know £35k diehards can generate a much better atmosphere than £48k if it includes a lot of the fair weather brigade.

Cant they gift he club money in this league which they cant in the leagues above. They should take the opportunity to chuck the money into the clubs bank account for the next 10 years.

Sadly not. Iirc they can gift money in this league, but obviously that would go through this year's accounts. Next year (if we go up) we'd be limited by the amount we are allowed to lose. Doesn't matter if they put £1bn in the bank, if we lost money next season and ended up with £10m less than £1bn it would count as a loss and put us at risk of falling foul of FFP, so anything they put in now couldn't be used over the next x number of years.

That was David Mellor. Gummer was the one who fed his daughter a burger during the BSE scare.

They'd probably disallow anything over arms length value as turnover, so the salary cap would still be limited to that.

Now, obviously (for lots of very sensible reasons) this won't happen, but what if they decided this season to make a donation of £500 million to the club? It looks like the rules would allow this in league one;

'However the Football League use a is broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions.'

Would the cash that was then in the company bank account be able to be used if the club got into the championship? Or, would the club be in the situation whereby they could be sitting on a mountain of cash but were still bound by the constraints of turnover?

Edit;

Could we sell a load of players in January, giving a payoff to offset the wages if necessary? Free up wage room that way.

Reading between the lines (and putting my own fantasy scenario into it)

  • They were all set and just about agreed on buying them up the road
  • Big Mike thought he could squeeze more cash and asked for something silly
  • They told him no
  • Mike then says "Well, if you don't like it go and buy Sunderland."
So they have. :lol:

Someone has confidently stated the announcement is now next week at the earliest.*

*not me. My excitement levels can’t take another week or 2

So it could be longer than next week?

I appreciate you're only relaying second-hand information but was that the jist?
