Ross’ last game

After listening to the recent podcast with Kieran Brady he kept stressing how Sunderland as a club has to stop accepting mediocrity and develop a ruthless streak from top to bottom, playing and non playing staff. At 16 when he asked another pro about what it is like at Sunderland he was told "easy" and sounded like a holiday camp. Unless you were self motivated it was easy to cruise and although players said they gave a 100% on the pitch, it was only 100% of their current fitness or capability and not what could be achieved if pushed.
I thought those days would be over with Jack Ross as he certainly talked a good game before arrival, however, post match interviews and his comments mirrored by player interviews does suggest they are happy with current performances and in my opinion this feels like happiness with mediocrity is still the norm.
I also like KB's comment about he would be happy if Sunderland were the headline club in giant killer defeat since that would mean we had actually made it and had the expectation to be consistently playing at the highest level and winning.
I think everyone wants us to win and wanted Ross to succeed but it does not seem to be happening, especially when we have chances to captilise on other results or games in hand. So it will be interesting to see how the new regime will change the club ethos. Donald did promise this but I am not sure he has the ruthless streak required to accept he potentially made a mistake and change the personal he hired.

Absolute nonsense man. Won 6 of last 8, and go 2nd if we win the game in hand. There is fair criticism to be made about tactics, lack of style, inability to kill games off - all legitimate. Automatic promotion is a must. But to say we won't make the playoffs under Ross is just hyperbolic, pessimistic shite

true what you're saying bout league position, but,we had the games in hand advantage three times last season and couldn't take the opportunity, have you seen something about this team that makes you think it'll be any different this time around?,whilst i hope your right,i certainly haven't

We never win those games in hand though. We couldnt last season and we couldnt last night.

I think the players were to blame last night not the manager.

However, we are in the results business. 4th in Div3 is not good enough.

I am appalled by last nights result. I heard we were very close to getting s second goal. They obviously, were going to score so, we needed a 2nd.

We will not get out of this division with Jack Ross in charge, any hard working team will cause us problems, OK I accept we are in league 1 and the team is a mojority of league 1 standard players, but piss poor teams are causing us problems, and that has got to be coming from the lack of Jack Ross's ability to organise the team accordingly, Rotherham, a team that probably cost a quarter of ours ran us ragged for two thirds of the game last night, they wanted it more and very nearly got it.

Wheyhey theres the 1st if we win our game in hand. Congratulations

After tonight I disagree. We are going backwards, he's had 3 transfer windows to improve the squad. Can you see an improvement?
Agreed we are definitely weaker than last season.. We are missing Cattermole's driving influence in midfield.. We actually look weaker at the back with McLaughlin at right back and in my personal opinion Wyke and Grigg won't cut it at Sunderland and fire the goals we need. But Ross tactics and formation along with his dire late substitutions were abysmal.

I'd give him till December, assuming we don't go on a losing streak.

If we're not within 3 points of the top 2, we should look at replacing him. Depending on performances, injuries etc...

No way this team will get in any play offs.
Teams might come up here with trepidation thinking Oh! Stadium of Light, Sunderland, but as the game goes on they must be thinking fukun hell these are nowt and just take over.
Aren't the players scared tho

4th in the league, 8 games in, I think he's OK for a while, unless it goes tits up against Bolton and MK Dons

Personally I'm like "Jezza on Brexit", on the fence about him, don't particularly want him gone, but if his goes I won't be crying in in beer

When will we sack him ? I think he will be gone after the Lincoln game on the 5th of October.

He should go if we aren't in the top 2 heading in to December (depending on how many points were off it)

Give someone new the chance to evaluate the squad before the window opens and get what's needed to take us up.

Think it's more than capable of finishing in the Play Offs. Problem is - that's not good enough
