Takeover Rumours

Well that's what he has said after a lot of criticism from a large proportion of the fan base.

Their chairman said this:

Oh, I’ve spoke to Richard...”, I said ‘Did the Marcus thing come up?’ he said ‘yeah, I said your manager likes him, is there any interest?’ and Richard said to Barry along the lines of ‘We don’t rate him, I don’t anyway and there is no way that we will be bidding for Marcus Maddison'

So we don't know either way for sure.
We do know for sure. You just won't believe it for some reason.

LIterally not one Sunderland fan will be gutted, not one.

Find me a post in which any Sunderland fan says he hopes this doesn’t happen and I’ll never post on here again.

Can’t say fairer than that.
Ah but the gutted ones wont be sunderland fans will they

Of course not but why worry about them anyway.
The bloke in replying to was certainly trying to infer it would be some Sunderland fans who’d be gutted though which is a complete load of shite!

Two people are saying different things so no we don't know for sure unless you have any evidence?

I'm not saying I believe one over the other.
One has said his version with a "something like" caveat. Our man has publically responded and cleared up any confusion. He fancies the lad but not at the price quoted with 6 months left on his contract.

One has a reason to stoke up interest and conflict the other has no dog in the fight. Can't for the life of me think why anyone wouldn't take Richard Hill's word on this one. What has he got to gain?

So we still don't know for sure then unless you believe one over the other.

I don't believe either tbh. Both could just saying things they think people want to hear.

Negotiation tactics from both parties. Likely to both be twisting the truth. RH could have said "we don't rate him" to try get their chairman to lower the price. RH might not have said that at all and their chairman could be saying that to make Maddison less interested in joining us or to put pressure on the club to buy him.

I wouldn't hang on to what any of them say regarding transfer negotiations. As you said, we don't know.
