As ive said baring grigg i really dont think we have spent that much money

I dont know how much we need to spend but was hoping for alot more than we did in the summer

He had a much better starting point than most teams (including Charlton who went up at our expense) and still got over a million to spend. That is absolutely huge money at this level. He then got even more in January. Its more than any team has ever had to spend at this level.

In fairness im not sure blackburn were in the state we were

Im just looking at our starting 11 from saturday, thats not an expensive squad and only wyke missing?

To be honest, by the time you fart around with check-in times and security, and then hang around in a departure lounge, the time saving is less than you might think, and the stress levels are much higher. Much prefer taking the train to flying if at all possible. Would rather spend an extra couple of hours enjoying the scenery or reading a book with a drink than pissing about with airport security and waiting in a tiny room before the mad scramble to get on first, even when seats are assigned.

But it is an expensive squad at this level. McGeady (Ross didnt buy him but he's still available to him), O'Nien and Dobson probably cost close to £1m. Power and Grigg on the bench is another few million. Accrington havent paid money for a player in the past 10 seasons at least - thats the norm at this level. £1m isnt a lot at championship level but at league one level its £1m more than 95% of the clubs will spend. Charlton last season spent absolutely nothing. Most clubs at this level operate on loans and free transfers. Anyone who has the ability to spend a fee, no matter how nominal, has a huge advantage other the vast, vast majority of the others.
