Takeover Rumours

I'm not blaming him for high wages, my point is that with those high wages come better players than most teams in this league could attract. "Nominal" fees at this level are still huge when other teams cannot afford to spend a penny.

Other teams have spent money tho mate, pboro and both ipswich both spent on forwards in the close season

I dont really agree that spending say a nominal fee of around £250k on onien is anything to write home about

It's easier to type on a full size keyboard, the phone connection on the line from Newcastle to Bristol is up and down like a bride's nightie, and Cross-Country's wi-fi is so unreliable even the train managers won't use it. In other words, while posting from my phone on the move is doable, it's a right pain in the arse.

The mother in law used to use the XC train every month. She now flys Bristol - Ponteland, is that not easier for you? It’s actually cheaper too

Yes it is. It was more than what our rivals were spending.

If we had been starting on a level playing field maybe, but we weren’t, we were on the back of two successive relegations and at absolute rock bottom

We have not spent big since being in this league, grigg apart

As ive already mentioned somewhere 14 of our 18 in sat were either frees or already at a successively relegated club

Take Grigg out and we've still spent more. Our recruitment has been shit at best.

Doesn't operate October-March, and they've changed the flight times so they're far from convenient a lot of the time. To be honest, by the time you fart around with check-in times and security, and then hang around in a departure lounge, the time saving is less than you might think, and the stress levels are much higher. I'm in no hurry, and the train is simply more relaxing.

Enough to have a entertaining side smashing the league up? Not for me

We didn’t do enough in the close season, no where near enough to be genuine title winners, i’m sure the manager would have liked to have done alot more himself

Easily enough to play better stuff than was served up. Totally disagree about title contenders. Imo we under achieved because of dull negative tactics.

Wont argue with dull tactics etc as it has been alot of the time

Won’t agree that we’ve spent more than enough to be anything more than a top 6 team

I think we have gathered that. Now can you try and remain on topic please, contrary to what you may think, this thread is not about you.

I’m answering replies to my posts.

Plenty spoke about reiver and his ban before me. I suggest you take it up with them.

You said you were just replying to your posts when @T_Bone pulled you up when you clearly weren't. Your first post this morning was another dig at Reivers info.

Hardly league one winning amounts of money tho is it? Especially when we were in total freefall when we bought them two lads
Blackburn smashed it the year before spending a similar amount to what we did on o'nien, baldwin, power and wyke. We already had McGeady, Ovideo, Cattermole, Maja. He had a much better starting point than most teams (including Charlton who went up at our expense) and still got over a million to spend. That is absolutely huge money at this level. He then got even more in January. Its more than any team has ever had to spend at this level.
