Takeover Rumours

This is the problem and why people don’t post. Everyone rips them to shit. Loads of people have friends who work at the club. They get information, interesting information, but it’s pointless sharing it because you just get abused and accused of lying. Also, information may be wrong or change very quickly.
You specifically mentioned Michael Dell being there though, and said that you had spoken to a person who met him.
That is a fairly significant piece of information to post on here don't you think?
If you think it's wrong or don't trust the person saying it, then post it with a caveat, or even don't post it at all.
You seemed to state it as a fact and even said "They met a lot of staff. Not secret"

Apologies for wading in earlier and mentioning RAOS, ;), but you hadn't responded when I asked you for a bit of clarity.

I wasn't questioning the validity of his information, in fact I believe it. I am also interested in it. I personally could have waited until it was officially announced, but if the info is there I won't ignore it.

I was just responding to a post about people sharing itk information not just @Reiver . I suggested it was attention seeking, which I still think is a fair comment, but I now seem to have been rounded on.

For the record to other posters who suggest I'm just jealous, why would I want the attention when attention seeking is something that I'm complaining about ? I promise I'm not jealous.

Been rounded on, well boo f***ing hoo ...

... if you can't take it don't dish it out pal.

Fair comment isn't claiming I'm an attention seeker wanting people licking my arse.

If you show respect you'll get it back, something you might wish to reflect on.

That’s what I was on about thanks. So, did he invest in the area around their stadium, their local community anyone ?
Obviously it would be great if he did.
GOM commented on this earlier on. Something about MSD Capital lending the Marlins money for the stadium (I'm probably wrong but it was a few hundred pages ago).

Not quite the same as buyibg a team entirely.

"On October 2, 2017, an ownership group led by Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter announced the completion of its $1.2 billion acquisition of the Miami Marlins, which included a preferred equity investment from an affiliate of MSD Partners, L.P. (“MSD”), the private investment arm of Michael S. Dell’s family office."

I still think that.

I know a staff member who met him. But he met loads of people so I didn’t think it was in the slightest significant. I know absolutely nothing else. To be honest it’s pointless information and not particularly interesting. One thing I did find out that was interesting, we got £500,000 for Maja making his Nigerian debut.

They must be doing well
Team might be doing shite but they've got a canny stadium that cost around ahalf a billion quid back in 2012! Build the stadium and they will come ;)

I don't think they will have invested in the area etc but rather because they aren't the main investors plus there's a few more investors. Is Miami as bad as our place or should I say, have more investement/development/regeneration potential? I thought Miami was all fast cars, speedboats, sexy women and cool blokes with that fly on the wall documentary from the 80's called Miami Vice?

From what I've seen Miami Marlins were bought in 2017 for $1.2b and $175m was from the Dell fund in preferred shares  I think that means if Miami Marlins can't pay it back then Dell fund will get shares? I don't know but maybe someone else can explain as I can't be arsed to do owt more than skip read it!

Nothing in the history of the 3 from MSD plus Michael Dell that suggests they know anything about “soccer”.
IMHO it’s an investment in a distressed asset.
Probably true, you could not buy a comparably sized club with the assets such as Stadium and training facilities for such a knockdown price. Add in the potential for huge support and extension of the stadium to accomodate futher progress through the leagues and it is a bargain too good to miss out on. £40 million to these fellas is peanuts.

Thanks Wardley.

Makes sense for all involved (in theory at least) to let SD and CM who understand English football, and to an extent SAFC, in charge but provide them with funds.
