Think this is more an indictment of Root than praise for Buttler though. Think our biggest problem is the captaincy, Root has proven he isn’t capable of leading the side and it’s negatively impacted his game. Really though, how can they expect a man who can’t deal with moving from 4 to 3 to cope with a burden like the captaincy?

I can see what people mean by technically 2-2 isn’t losing the series but no chance would I look at 2-2 as anything but a loss tbh, we won’t be getting the Ashes back so what’s the difference, no consolation in a draw.
