Takeover Rumours

Other than being pissed off at the cricket I am, just happy that we’re the richest club in England.

Anyway.....my Mam has been going to games since the mid-80s, seen us relegated to the 3rd tier twice, lost 3 play off finals, 3 cup finals, hundreds of away games. Was talking to her on Friday and she was saying is this all takeover talk true etc and I said aye and how good it is, how much money they’ve got etc. She turned round and said she doesn’t want to be a Man City because part of the ā€˜fun’ of being a Sunderland fan is us being shite and being the underdog and trying to punch above our weight

Simply don’t understand that attitude at all. Surely you want your club to win the lot, but she’s concerned that we end up with a stadium full of tourists and genuine fans end up priced out.
Extend the south stand and make it the tourist area then.

There’s a plane flying over the SOL with a banner on it at the minute! Too far away to see what it says tho

Just flown over the top of my house in Easington Lane but I couldn’t make out what it said either, however I can confirm it did not say ā€˜it’s happening’

If and it's a big if . We become successful I don't want every Tom Dick and Harry supporting us.
Our fans are unique and brought up on shit football.
We want no bandwagon wankers like Newcastle attracted in the 90s
Oh I do. If it sells out then I’ve a ready made excuse not to go........like 90% of the Spurs n Arsenal n Chelsea fans I’ve ever met in London ā€œ can’t get tickets geezerā€.

I heard that from someone who worked for Tom Cowie from the age of 16 and was very close to him being one of his Grouse shooting clan. He (Cowie) even, I'm led to believe, sacked his own son because ,allegedly , he thought he was doing naughty things who then opened up on his own in Houghton.
I was told that his son bought a Porsche in the late 70 s early 80 s when TC was on holiday. TC came back........Porsche was sold sharpish. If there’s nowt in our range good enough for you then find yourself another job was the gist.

I’d hazard a guess when this three year price freeze on season card prices ends our prices will rise substantially.
Of course Mr Donald won’t be in charge by then will he.
Think they’d need to show some substantial investment and huge team improvements before anyone could justify substantial price rises. They’d also need to consider the disposal income of their average supporter and make sure they’re not priced out otherwise the place would be half full.

Fully expect them to increase corporate side and the premium seats though.
