Takeover Rumours

On a side note, if the new owners (when it happened) decided to have a base elsewhere in the country, how many would be bothered if it meant that we could attract better players without having to pay a huge premium on top to get them up here?

As we know 'big' players would need far bigger wages to come up here though even huge wages won't be enough for some players. It's understandable now given they're multi millionaire's within a season so offering more money to a multi millionaire often won't work, nor would it be financially viable if we have to stick within FFP.

Given they may have family etc (mainly WAGS), they'd obviously prefer to live in the more affluent areas of the country and aye we've got some nice scenery etc but there's no denying it's not on a level compared to other areas. The players would still come up here for a few days for the home matches but the away matches could also potentially mean less travelling.

Do you reckon the Dell boys would do something like this? Aye I know people will say if they don't want to come up here so fuck them but what exactly would be the difference between someone who'd play for the inflated wages rather than someone who'd play for less money and commute instead? Who is the more commited player to the club out of just these 2 players?

Many would hate it, I really wouldn't care. Not as if many of the players live in Sunderland anyway. If they trained down south but played games here it wouldn't really worry me

The flight plan says yes and the lad who's giving me the info hasn't updated that info.

Having dealt with the mega-rich, with private planes, I know how easy it is for them to change times and dates.

The Oligarch I worked for was a nightmare and his lass was worse.

I once had to send the pilot back to Milan, from Nice, because she'd left her slippers and wanted them.

. .. a bit like Bono when he left his hat in a London hotel and got it flown to Milan from Gatwick.

Would be a big statement mind, and looking at it, it would probably kick start a turnaround.

If Ross’ stays, and continues to stumble along the new owners would probably have to make a change which doesn’t get them off on the best footing for success.

Personally hope the lot are booted and that ranges from the manager, to coaching staff, to the scouting team, media team, the lot.

Last thing the new regime needs, is Ross letting all of the air out of their optimism balloon with a 1-1 draw at home to someone shite.

We’ve learned from our mistakes, yawn.....

I would be completely against it. Don't think it needs any more justification than that tbh.
I get where your coming from but would you rather have 'potential' money grabbers playing for us or players who aren't willing to shift their families but still willing to travel up here every other game without inflated wages? How many SAFC players would you expect to live in Sunderland itself if we started getting some decent players in? How many live in Sunderland now and how many socialise with fans outside of the game? Aye they do SAFC stuff for the community now and then but couldn't they also do this regardless of where they actually live.

Plus surely we could only pay the inflated wages to a few players given the wages to revenue they'll be working within? Look at the Mags, they had to pay Owen £120,000 a week back in 2005 to come to them. If we can't pay the wages for young but decent players to come up here then will we not just end up getting journeymen looking for a final payday?
