Takeover Rumours

I never have or ever would give any Sunderland fan shit in person, I hate Sunderland yes but they are just supporting another north east club. Other than some mild pisstaking of the few Sunderland fans I know and you lot thinking you are on a par with Newcastle I have no issues with Sunderland fans. Plastic glory hunters are my gripe.

Alos you are hardly our benchmark man when we have far eclipsed your league finishes over the last 20 odd years and played at a far higher level.

There may well be some good times ahead for you but it still won't be half of what we did in the 90s and early 00s. Beating Juventus in the CL for example is still a massive pipe dream for you lot even if this Takeover happens. It's still a long long way back to the PL. And I'm sure FFP makes big spending a lot more difficult than it was 10 years ago. The gulf is massive now, look at Everton spending fortunes just to be in with a chance of 7th. The chances of you making Europe even with big money is slim to none so I'm relaxed about it all. Would just make a change to see you fill your ground for once though as it's only full for the mags coming to town

If any other club were being bought out by these fellas we'd all be saying they're nailed on for champions League. It's really not that unrealistic for potentially the richest club in the world to be playing there.

Last year people were saying wolves could break into it, so what's the difference.

There isn’t a difference really. Reality is if they come and and throw money at it whilst using their business knowledge then there is every chance we can do well.

Recent history? Most of that was 2 decades ago when you bought and paid for the title and f***ing bottled it. Everyone else who’ve been the top spenders before or since have won something, even Blackburn. It’s a brief history of massive failure and should be totally forgotten not wanked over. Fans of proper big clubs don’t wistfully look back on their golden age of not winning owt.

Now fuck off back to that god awful board where you and the rest of the lobotomised dullards can pretend you’re still relevant...
If there was a cup named ‘the nearly won cup’, they would have nearly won it.

They really are a different breed.

Mods should ban him as it’s derailing a good thread!

Ha ha I wasn't I was just wondering how owners can make money in football nowadays and even if they wanted to spend fortunes isn't that restricted by FFP?

I have read on here loads of times that it would take hundreds of millions just to get to 7th. From league 1 to 7th in the PL would require a fortune.

@BigPeter says great times ahead, unless that means winning the PL then it's irrelevant as I was told all Newcastles high league finishes and European games mean nothing as we won nowt! If and when you have several top 4 finishes, play champions league football in Sunderland, get Sunderland to half the city that Newcastle is and fill your stadium regularly for once then I might take Sunderland seriously as a rival to Newcastle.

You mean until we start smashing our city up punching horses and shouting at shops we won’t be held in the same breath as the famous toon army

Prem and Champions league maybe long way away but we have some good news for once so we will take that.

The mags laughed when we lost playoffs and Sheik yabooty was gonna be taking them over and the also laughed at us on Netflix. .....well these Americans didn't ;)

I'm currently taking the time to thank every mag I come across for the highly original 'we saw you crying on netflix' chant as we will find out very soon this is the 'kicker' @Reiver has been referencing.

The rumoured new owners heard the chant whilst the mags were on Sky, (they were considering buying them hence taking in a game), had their interest pricked by the fact such a massive clerb were constantly referring to another team whilst their idols were on the pitch, decided to take a look at the series and bobs our uncle.....takeover

Cheers lads

All my mates are mags, everyone from around where I live are mags, most the people I work with are mags and the lot of them have had nowt to say..

The media has been quiet but people in footballing world it has been known but not reported... even when it does get reported in a proper paper the Chronicle will still make a 5 page pull out on FFP rules to calm the local idiots down saying how we can't be another Man City even if wanted to be.
Same here mate.... live in the west end of Newcastle, my kids the only SAFC fans in their school & not a peep.

They know what’s comin

I posted that mate. It was told as if it was going to be a plan down the line but they saw the ground as potential for all year round events.

Concerts, other sports and such like. If you put a roof on you could do all sorts when you think about it. NFL, Boxing, baseball, concerts and as daft as people would say it is a WWE event would be a massive attraction really.
You are famous mate, saw your post on the safc banter page on fyacebook ;)

Getting to a New Wembley cup final means nothing because we lost.

You idiots believe having a manager who won the Champions League means you've won something.

Whatever happened to that Benitez fella, no one ever mentions him these days

I actually got that one today, if he reads these forums he will know who I am he's probably seen me browsing at work. Tbh my username and said my location is a give away to people who may know me anyway.

I said of all the north east teams that had been to the New Wembley in a cup final apart from Newcastle which he got flustered with and said when was last time you went?

I said not long ago play off final but he says aye you lost when for a cup said checkatrade and he says aye you lost and not a proper cup. So said cup final and he says aye but you lost...

Still played there though ;)
